A good little village convenience store (a Costcutter) and post office that is only 5 minutes walk from The Boathouse pub on the canal, and Appley Bridge Station, and ten minutes walk from the Leeds Liverpool canal path. A good pit stop for snacks and drinks for walkers, cyclists and other visitors. We called in on a Sunday afternoon on our way from Ashurst Beacon to Parbold. A good choice of snacks including at that time of day pies & pasties, sandwiches, confectionery, soft drinks (good offers including some on alcohol if we'd been looking to buy any). A useful community facility for residents and visitors alike. Just down the hill from the Wheatsheaf pub.
