Went to ask why the bank wanted 11% interest on a bank loan until I sell my house hopefully in November. Even though I agreed to a 4 year deal and had been with the bank 45 years, the answer was still " thats what the computer says"I shan't need a computer to know where to put the £300,000. Anywhere but Lloyds bank. Appalled and very short sighted of them.

The lady on counter her name is Michelle. She was quite rude . Before me one old lady nearly 80s went to her and the counter lady don't want to explain her twice because she didn't understand first time . Then counter lady goes hard voice tone and quite rude with old lady. Then my turn she was she with me as well. They write notice for customers well-behaved and respect for lloyds employees. I think same way customers want respect as well. Not happy at all.. hope she change her behaviour with old customers.

Having personally banked with Lloyds bank for over 30 years and having had an exemplary banking history I decided that when setting up a new company that I would try and open a Lloyds Bank Business account. I have run my own business for 21 years. I suppose what I am saying is that I do know how to run my own business. Anyway I enquired in their Andover Hampshire store about opening an account. Yes I took the trouble to walk in and ask someone personally in the bank if I could open an account. The nice lady took my details and said that someone would be in touch. A couple of days later I was contacted by Derek who is the man that helps set up business accounts in Andover. He asked if I required an overdraft facility. I said that I would prefer to have a £5K facility when opening the account for cashflow and set-up purposes. I was then told that this no longer fell into Derek's remit and that someone called Cassie would be in touch with me.A couple of days later after I chased Derek, I eventually received a call from Cassie who asked about the business I was setting up. I explained that I had registered the business at Companies House and that we were all ready to go. She then asked about the overdraft facility that I required. I explained that I needed it for cashflow and set-up purposes. She then reeled off a whole list of things that she then required to open up an account with such a facility - 3 years business plan,2 years financial projections, details of all Directors / shareholders as well as details of their personal finances. At this point I stopped her and explained that I was more than happy to provide all of these but I asked the question that if I did provide all of this information and I was successful in getting the facility, would I be required to guarantee the £5K overdraft facility? Simple answer back from Cassie was a yes!Now forgive me but if I guarantee this amount I am wholly liable for the full amount and that the bank are taking no risk whatsoever. It would be far easier to simply put £5K of my own money in an account or on a credit card and just to open up an account. She agreed but apologised that this was just the banks way of doing things.I then asked if I could just open an account without an overdraft facility as soon as possible. I wouldn't have to provide her with any of that information.I was then referred back to Derek. I came into Andover the following day equipped with passports and company info required to open an account. To my amazement I received a text from Derek saying that he could not see me until two weeks later to open said account as this was his first availability. I didn't realise how many businesses want to open up accounts every day with Lloyds bank in Andover - they must be seriously inundated. The whole experience has been a shocker - I thought High Street banks were wanting and encouraging small businesses to set up and helping them with facilities etc. I though the government were meant to have agreed with the banks to help lend money to enterprise. My experience is far far from that and I would not recommend any small business to go through the pain I have to open up what should be a simple business account.
