Now WHSmith will get scrutiny directed at the poor decision to relocate the MAIN town post office to their shop. Gone are the claggy threadbare carpets...to be replaced by large queues for the understaffed and poorly manned counter service of the post office. See pic of self service...or not as the case maybe. Yes...4 out of 4...or 100% if you prefer...not working....and 2 staff manning the 3 counters (one of was reserved for bureau de change)

Very poor. I went in to buy a birthday card, but I wanted to ask the staff a question. There was nobody around, apart from one girl who seemed to be putting stock out. She was on the phone and blatantly ignoring me, as I stood to the side waiting patiently for her to end the phonecall and acknowledge me. Totally unapproachable, rude and unprofessional. I gave up waiting in the end and left. Would not return. What happened to customer service?

Went in once to purchase a magazine. They were unarranged and unorganised, with some bent from leaning over the edge of the shelf. The staff weren't too busy, sharing a laugh while I tried to figure out where the magazine I intended was. Didn't go anywhere else, so just imagine how awful other sectors of the WHSmith were. I'm not local in Basingstoke but my nearest WHSmith to me is much more organised than these lot.

post office is located at the rear of the store, very little space, really not good due to social distancing. self serve machines did not have the relevant products, and therefore counter staff had to stop serving customers to help, must be stressful for staff. not a great a great customer experience, not the fault of staff. also lack of signage of where to place our package, again had to ask for help

A place I call heaven!!This is the place where I would like to be at the magazine corner or the first floor. A loads of magazines of almost everything, literally everything-Science, technology, Business, Finance, History, sports, Food, cooking, sewing, cars, bikes, cycling, trains, farming, puzzles, colouring, photography, computer-hard and softwares, graphic novels from marvel and DC and lot more.It has a corner for DHL parcel service. Larger space is allocated for stationary products pens, pencils diaries, files, folders, notebooks, planners, gift wrapers, sketch pads and you name it what's not. At times they offer discounts and promotional offers from beefeater and McDonalds. The upper floor has a section exclusively for sale items, you may find at least a thing of your need.Dont miss and hesitate to go upstairs. Ithw next section is dedicated for kids books and then academic books-KS1/2/3/4 books,CGP books of all subjects and most of the boards-AQA, OCR etc., Dictionaries and thesaurus, DIY books, and loads of non fiction books along with a section of large collection of pulp fiction books too. You may get lots of 50%to70% off books next to check out. It's almost like a sweet/gum/wine next to check out point which tempts you to take one..these discounted books tempt most of you even if you don't read them or use them:-)Once, I brought some books for my toddler baby. The price was slightly higher than expected but I took them with heavy heart:-) then entered to TheWorks opposite to it. I found loads of kids books at cheaper plus discounted price. I was shocked so I collected some at almost the quarter of the price of what I paid at WHSmith. Then I returned the books to the store.Verdict-For kids stationary and books go to TheWorks:):-)The staffs are Ok and helpful. Most of the times I use self check out.Magazine lovers heaven-go and grab yours!Plus absolute rip off! I was charges hp 301 cartridge £24.99 which was £13.19 on official website. It's almost £10.00 margin(too pricy for convenience). Bless them!! Not happy.

Not a patch on the WH Smith stores back in its hey day, but I was very surprised by how much is crammed into this little store! Found exactly the comics I wanted for my nephews without any problem.

W H smiths is ok but now the post office is in there it's a nightmare like going back in time again with long queues for the counter.

WHSmiths allowing the Post Office to move in is ridiculous! Less staff, less counters, smaller space and long cues...
