Just tried to buy a jumper priced at £7 that had a few pulled stitches in it so I asked if it could possibly be reduced by a couple of pounds. They took the jumper and came back to me saying they couldn't sell it to me. When I asked why they said it was too damaged to be sold and shouldn't have been put on the rail. I said the small amount of damage was OK and that I could fix it myself. It was nothing major and still they refused. After insisting multiple times that I don't mind and I would still love to buy it because I loved the jumper (and they could give me no real reason why they wouldn't sell it to me..) they finally accepted but insisting that I would not be able to return it and that was also perfectly ok for me. The short haired blond woman supposedly took it out the back to write on the label that it was non returnable and was gone for a long while and "fiddling" with the jumper. When she finally brought it back to the other lady at the till who passed it to me I noticed that the small pulls in the jumper had be cut and pulled out even further, now making it impossible to repair and worst of all she had put a massive hole on the shoulder of it. I can't possibly express how utterly shocked and discusted I am by this horrible behaviour. What kind of mean and spiteful person would rather ruin an item of clothing so it is unfit for sale than let someone buy it and have that money given to charity. I'm glad I noticed the damage before I bought it because the new label she was meant to be writing was so I would not be able to return it. I'm so utterly disgusted by this behaviour. She should probably avoid human contact at all costs. For all of our sakes.

If I could leave less than one star, I would. Shopping with my daughter, and she found a jumper that she loved, but it had a few pulls in it, and at £7, was overpriced. She went to the till and asked if they would consider reducing the price by a couple of pounds, as she would need to repair it. They refused to sell it at a reduced price, preferring to throw it in the rag bin, than gain the charity £5. When we questioned this ridiculous decision, the manageress agreed to sell it at a reduced priced with no returns. We all agreed and then the original volunteer took the jumper out the back and was gone for a least 5minutes. She came back, wrote on the ticket "no returns" and handed it to the cashier. Luckily, my daughter noticed that the small pulls had increased and were made irreparable by snipping with scissors(?) Make your own mind up on this level of spite from someone who works in a charity shop. Absolutely disgusting attitude and behaviour from the staff in this shop. The item went unsold. The charity lost the value not only of that sale, but any further purchases. We will not be returning. I will be writing to the head office of The British Heart Foundation to lodgea serious complaint about the attitude of this particular woman. Wholly unnecessary behaviour. Disgusting.

It used to be a lovely shop, while Jenny was running it. Now it is full of tacky, cheap things, half empty most of the time and with local people donations being send out to HQ. I stopped donating.
