Visited here for my birthday and had not been back for a couple of years. Place had only a handful of customers. Informed them my son had a shellfish allergy. Waiter informed us that that basically wrote of the entire starter menu in case they ?might? cross contaminate?no attempt to accommodate the issue in the kitchen at all. Clearly couldn?t be bothered. Ordered bottle of house wine at £23 a bottle?it was absolutely vile and had to send it back. £2.99 bottom shelf grape juice at best. My pasta was dry and devoid of sauce, the chicken saltimbucaca were fine. Ordered a pudding and the spoon arrived but despite waiting 20 minutes it never arrived and waiter did not return. Had to go find someone who I assume was manager to get bill. Told him sweet never arrived, he shrugged his shoulders and nothing deducted for poor service or other issues. Very disappointing meal you need to up your game a lot.

Such a huge disappointment. We used to love Carluccios. The service was beyond slow - the staff, although friendly, didn?t appear to know what they were doing - the food was absolutely appalling! Soggy salads, overcooked luke warm tuna steak, chicken fillet was so over - cooked and dry couldn?t cut through it - had to break it apart. So we gave up trying to eat our meals. Pretty sure they couldn?t have had a trained chef in the kitchen. Very sad and expensive experience.

My second meal at a Carluccio's restaurant in 2 days was delicious in the Portsmouth restaurant. I used a voucher from the day before. Great friendly staff and good spaghetti carbonara

My firend and I really enjoyed our lunch at Carluccio's last Monday. Service was friendly and efficient and the food was absolutely marvellous. We both had the seafood risotto and it was packed with a variety of seafood and tasted delicious. We dont normally have desserts but did on this occasion. I had afogato and my friend had the chocolate brownie. Both desserts were excellent too.

We frequently meet up with family at Gunwharf and if we have time then Carluccio?s is the place we choose to have a meal. As it?s located on the fringe of the Gunwharf retail area it has a more intimate and welcoming ambience without feeling that you are rushed through. The staff were friendly and attentive without being pushy. The menu has plenty of options from a light bite through to a full meal with all the trimmings. One of my guests had specific dietary needs and this was met with no problems with the helpful waitress taking us through the selection. The food arrived swiftly and was well-presented, my Penne Giardiniera was delicious although it could have been hotter but it?s not easy keeping pasta hot. The Chicken Caesar Salad was quite a plateful and was very good. Coffee good, house wine delicious, chocolate brownie dessert superb. I have found Carluccio?s to be consistently good but I sensed that this time my portion size was a little ?controlled? in order to keep the prices down. It?s a small point and I well understand that these are difficult times in the catering business so it won?t stop me returning.

Visited twice over a weekend stay before heading for the Isle of Wight. On both occasions the staff were friendly, polite and knowledgeable. Food was tasty, portion size good and price amazing. Will be definitely visiting on our return to the mainland before heading back to Shropshire.

The restaurant wasn?t very busy when we arrived however the service was poor at best. A long wait for the drinks menu, followed by a longer wait for the water and wine. Eventually recovered by another member of the team who checked our order! Food was good when arrived, although the whole experience was underwhelming.

We visited one morning during the week and had an excellent breakfast. Would highly recommend if you are in this area.

We had a bread assortment, as a starter and half of it was quite dry, poor quality for the price. My main meal of ravioli was undercooked and the pasta quite thick. My husband?s main of risotto he enjoyed. Overall disappointing, I would have complained, but we were short of time, as we were catching a ferry.

I chose Carluccio?s for a birthday dinner this year as any other time I have been here I have absolutely loved the food. Unfortunately, it was a bit lacking on this occasion and the service was bit slow. We ended up asking for the bill with our plates still sat in front of us as we?d been sat, having finished eating for over fifteen minutes and no one had come over. Thankfully, my previous experiences here mean I?m not willing to write it off just yet. But a disappointing birthday meal with bland food on this occasion.

My wife and I have eaten here a few times now and the food has always been very tasty. Also, the staff have always been polite and friendly. Would definitely eat here again and would recommend the scrambled eggs on ciabatta toast with mushrooms.

Since the Boporan Group bought Carluccios from the adminstrators it has steadily gone downhill. The lower standards of Boporan have become more and more obvious. The standard of service was slow, the food is nowheare near as good as it was before the takeover and poor maintenance of areas such as the lavatories is becoming obvious. Carluccio's Portsmouth location is ideal but it is one that I will avoid from now on; there are other food outlets at Gunwharf Quays ony a few steps away.
