I was locked out of my bank account because I tried to make a very large payment for big home improvements. They thought it was a scam so it flashed up on my phone to phone them so they could check who I am. I couldn't do that as I have a hearing loss, I can't make voice calls at all. It's not deaf friendly. I went into this branch to sort it out. Lovely staff sat with me in private and he made the necessary phone calls. I was able to show him photos of the completed improvements and he sorted it out for me and actually made the payments for me. He wrote everything down as I'm not a good lipreader..I didn't want to use Sign Video because I knew I needed to show proof of ID plus the invoice and the work so they could satisfy themselves there were no scams or fraud.This was actually the second time I had interacted with staff here. I wasn't sure how to do something on the cashpoint machine inside the branch. Lovely lady showed me how.Definitely a super branch. I can also vouch for Southend on Sea Santander branch as being excellent too.

The worst branch I?ve visited. Both outside machines not taking cash today. Counter assistant unfriendly and impolite. Such a pity the Southsea branch has closed.

Josh from the Portsmouth Santander was brilliant. Very friendly, only too happy to help when we asked him for a few different things and so polite whilst doing it!

Went to close my Santander account last week, and the procedure was quick and smooth. I was told that my remaining balance will be sent to the account I left them. Instead I got a check this week, and they refuse to cash it because I don't have an account with them.

Tried to change my address with santander 4 times. Once on the app (but said my address didn't exist), once on the phone, and was told to go into a branch, then twice in the branch. The second time in branch I asked the lady to confirm to me in writing that it had been done, and still it didn't happen. Took all my money out my account and closed it. Useless

Dear Santander , I came into your branch at commercial road nearly 3 weeks ago to get a new pin , got told it be il to five days to my home adress , i go on holiday a week today so desperately need it , I?ve been unable to get into the branch and the app is frustrating and useless because it?s telling me to use online banking which I haven?t got , the phone number doesn?t let me contact the branch it just goes to the app , with my name above can you look up my details and get it send asap please , I?ve got my mortgage with you I couldent not pay the mortgage for three weeks after the date set as you?d be trying to boot me out my house and reprosess it , sort it out please ,

I'm a new customer to Santanter. I had just opened an account. Had account details but couldn't do online yet as waiting for passcodes. Went into branch to sort details of the account and move some money into it. The staff were completely clueless and unhelpful. Lady wouldn't come out of her corner to talk to me, just sent messages through the front of house lady. Saw her looking up the answer to my questions on the Santanter website and then told me they can't help me move money and that I need to go home and use the internet or postal forms if I can't get online. I certainly will not be going into that branch again and I'm now wondering whether I should be banking with them at all.

A relative, on crutches following a foot amputation , went to the "welcome" desk at the front of the shop and asked to speak with someone about a cash withdrawal. He was told to go to the far end of the shop to the service counter. He asked could he not speak to someone where he was , because of his mobility difficulties, he was told no. The empty cubicles could only be assigned after he went to the counter. CUSTOMER SERVICE? Obviously an alien concept to Santander staff, or is it simply endemic contempt for their customers?

Lady at the front desk was very rude. It was empty and I asked for help but never tried to be understanding of the fact that I was given different information when I called Santander. I have never had a problem with Santander until now, as other staff from different branches have always sorted out any problems I had.

Checked google first as close to New Yearbut NOT a bank holiday 02/01/21 turns out that they are closed but did not change opening times on google. Can't give more than 1 star as I could not use the bank.

I have never been a particular fan of banks but a recent interaction with the staff at Santander in Portsmouth has changed that for me. We had a meeting with Ann initially to discuss our finances and she was amazing. Ann had already analysed our spending habits and was able to give us information on many different approaches to save us money. She was amazingly easy to talk to, knowledgeable, gave information and did not â??sellâ? products and we really enjoyed our meeting with her. Ann then recommended Tracey, the in-house mortgage advisor to us and Tracey was very good, also friendly and knowledgeable and couldnâ??t do enough to help us. Both these staff members were a pleasure to deal with and we canâ??t recommend them highly enough. Thank you for making a potentially painful process a pleasure.

Santander Portsmouth refused to print a statement for my friend who has banked with them for over 30 years. A few minutes earlier Halifax Portsmouth had gladly printed my friend a statement - such a difference in customer service. Santanders' reason? It 'takes too much time' to help a customer. They were the only person in the bank queue at the time!
