My favourite local shop. Staff are wonderful and they went above and beyond during the pandemic.

One star to muchArrived at 21.40 brought some beer and wanted to purchase some scratch cards. The rude lady in her late 50's refused to sale us the cards saying the scratch cards had already been counted. Her unfriendly stare and attitude towards us wasvery unnecessary. She has letthe store down and needs a lesson in customer service and manners

I have to agree with Tina Felix on this one. They racially profiled customers, which is a shame. I was staying @ the Premier Inn round the corner and popped on to pick up some essentials. Wouldn?t go here again.I?d sooner go to the Lidl, which is a few miles down the road.

All the workers are lovely and polite except for Sue. Very rude and miserable and could do with an attitude change, she makes you feel like you're an inconvenience to her day. This individual let's the team down.

Racially profiles customers and refuses service. On the 19th January 22, just after 5pm I waited in the queue and watched three customers in front of me purchase alcohol, NONE of whom were asked for ID, one of them was clearly in their 20's. As i approached the cashier, who was approximately 55+, I placed my items on the desk and I said 'just these please' to which she said 'are you talking to me?' which I confirmed. She then asked if I have ID for the two mini bottles of wine I had amongst my items... I am 38 year old woman. I find it implausible she'd legitimately consider me 25 or younger. I politely told her and said I don't routinely carry ID around with me as no one asks me for it... She retorted 'I've asked, you don't have it, I can't give it, I can't serve you, you can ask my manager instead to serve you'. There was no one 'single sorry for the inconvenience, we have to ask' etc, she was being purposefully affronting. The manager was on the next till, I waited and asked if could then purchase. The manager was incredibly apologetic and said because her colleague had asked she shouldn't overrule her, as policy. Now I completely understand this response is a policy, having worked retail myself. However, asking me to go to the manager for service knowing full well she'd reject me due this policy, appeared clearly as an exercise to belittle me whilst she looked on.I am offended and insulted by the first cashiers attitude towards me and the reason she asked me for ID yet failed to ask customers before for me purchasing alcohol, especially the one that was younger than me. The only difference that was clear to me was they were white and I clearly am not. The cashier had no fear of consequence behaving like this in front of her manager. It's was an upsetting experience and I am quite shocked that Co-op allow such behaviors to be common place in their stores, so blatantly in front management.

Some staff should really change job with that attitude, and why some ladies working there not accept European ID?You literally just check my age. Ridiculous.

Some of the female staff are so lovely! Unfortunately some staff not so much.Good amount of stock even through lock down. Would be 5 star if they sold fresh bakery goods though.

Shop layout not the best for distancing.used to be much better years ago with till at front left as you went into doors.staff could see who was entering as well&much safer for shop ques.

Can't believe I have read reviews on here about how polite the staff are... I have been staying in the premier in around the corner, used the co-op for room essentials and a few beers (miles cheaper than the pub at premier in. Almost £5 a pint!!!! Yet each time I went in the staff were rude, young lad who looks like the grown up version of the kid in Stuart little barely spoke just mumbled and then an old lady who shocked me with her lack of manners, she was talking to someone on her headset and gave me a funny look because I asked for something while she was trying to listen... I continued to use manners and I got no thanks, no goodbye. Nothing.... I made sure I let her know whilst walking out the shop. Absolutely disgusting. This is a convenience store and they are providing a service. Management should read this and check CCTV...
