Good service?

The food was great and the service awesome, there was nothing bad to say, in the opposite everything went over the standard. I would greatly recommend this place. Well done.

We walked into The Vine Inn at 7.15pm Thursday 26th August and a young man very kindly allocated us a table for two but emphasised that we would have to vacate the table by 8.45pm because it had been reserved. Fully understood and agreed obligingly. I joined the queue to order our meals, and began chatting to a lady who joined after me, she told me that she had been waiting for over an hour and a half for her meal, I thought that was excessive and was a "one-off". I ordered two meals from the Big Plate Special, and the bar staff told me that I would have to order the puddings at the same time (these are free with the Big Plate Special), I told him I didn't know which puddings we wanted and that I would return once the queue had ended. He told me that I had to order them at the same time as the main meal to qualify for them to be free. Told him again I would return. On my return with my request he told me that would cost £8.98, I told him to cancel the puddings. Time dragged on, many people were complaining about the waiting times they were experiencing, some even asking for their money back and leaving. Our allocated time at the table had now been reached and still no food had been served. I asked to speak to the manager who duly appeared. She listened to our wait time complaint and went to investigate the reason with the kitchen. On her return she told us that ours was being done next after they had served another table elsewhere in the restaurant and she pointed towards it. I asked her about the pudding that must be ordered at the same time as the main meal rule. Her answer was that it states as such on the menu, I asked her to show me the wording to this rule. She could not find it, WHY? because no such wording exists on the menu, her response "you've got a point there", but no offer of the free puddings was made. I watched the serving staff serve other tables in a completely different direction to the one the manager pointed towards after she stated that ours was being prepared next. After a wait of one hour 20 minutes our meal (without pudding) arrived and it was good, worth the wait? Don't think so, and what's more we weren't kicked off our table to make way for the 8.45pm diners, don't think they turned up. Other diners who had waited more than 2 hours did eventually receive their meals and were also given full refunds. Would we go again, a definite "NO".

Store assistant is incredibly rude, doesn't say a word or even acknowledge you're there, had headphones in the whole time and did not say a word to me at all.

So we wanted a place to stay close to Paultons Park ( Pepper Pig World), which it is less than 3 minutes away, why premier in? Well you can?t go wrong can you, hmmm. So we booked online and found the place quite easily, checking in was quite straightforward but the lady on reception seemed to make it painfully slow, not her fault you have been on the road for 4 hours with a cranky 2 year old I know but a little haste wouldn?t have gone a miss. The room was a standard Premier inn room which I have stayed in many times, relatively clean and tidy but nothing special. The floor could have done with a good hoovering and the carpets in the corridors needed a good clean. However the pillows were terrible. Now normally when I stay in hotels there are 2 pillows on the bed and a couple of spare in or on the wardrobe, no we got one each, now I suffer with a bad neck and my partner is pregnant, and quite honestly the pillows were that flat and used might as well not have had any, after a poor nights sleep we decided to ask at reception for 2 more pillows the next day to be taken to the room. Sorry because of Covid 19 we cant take them to the room I will have the team leave them at reception and you can collect them when you return. That?s fine I said. On our return the pillows weren?t there and the girl on reception said I will bring them to you room. Which begs the question why couldn?t this be done in the first place. So the second night we did sleep better but both pillows really only made one half decent one. My next gripe Covid 19. The world has changed I get it, things cannot be done how they have been trust me I know I work in catering and have spent the last 31 years working in restaurants but I don?t understand why this is stopping Premier Inns cleaning there rooms if you are staying for more than one night. A fact we only found out when I asked for extra pillows. We weren?t told this a checking in or as far as I am aware on any corespondent from them. The results no dry towels and with a 2 year old overflowing bin full of nappies. We did our best to keep it tidy but when you run out of places to put the rubbish what do you do? Why is it any different cleaning a room if I am there one day or one week, at some point it has to be cleaned. You would also expect the guest to be asked to ware mask but no one was a fact that another lady was challenging a member of the team on. We went to reception on no less than 3 separate occasions and every time we when there was no one there or we had to wait a considerable length of time to be served. It almost felt like we were an afterthought. All in all not the greatest experience but not the worst.

We stayed here for one night after visiting Paultons Park. Checking in was easy and efficient, the room was clean and the staff friendly. The restaurant next door let?s the place down but there is McDonald?s literally two minutes down the road which we opted for breakfast. One bonus is the Car parking is free. Overall great location and ok for a quick stop over.

If you're around the area it's as local and as welcoming as it gets
