The Ross on Wye Post Office is one of the few remaining (larger) Post Office branches remaining that offers a good old fashioned post office service with great customer service. Most other larger branches have had self service tills installed, run by one staff member with a "computer says no attitude". Not Ross! Ross still has a counter and still has staff that are willing to help. Yes, there are some smaller village branches that are as good but if you need a larger branch that can do Passports, Assist with International Driving Licences's undertake International Currency, Ross can do it all.And an extra thank you for the small table area for customers to wrap, pack and label our parcels, before posting. It has come in very handy on the occasions we get caught short at home.Thank you to all those involved at the Ross Branch. Your hard work does not go un-noticed.

I have been using this post office for a number of years and the owner is usually abrupt and generally unhelpful and rude, but when I visited recently, he was aggressive, bullying and insulting.Rather than politely ask me to step back behind the line (which I happily would have done with an apology if I had been addressed with courtesy), he came out from behind the counter and shouted at me in front of the whole shop.I pointed out that he was exceptionally rude and not just on this occasion and he just kept shouting aggressively trying to explain what I had done wrong (i.e stand too far forward).Unsurprisingly, it appears that I am not the only one who has experienced the wrath of this unpleasant man as the other reviews on here (and also on the Ross on Wye Noticeboard Facebook page) clearly outline the same experience. His response to these complaints are even more incredulous, calling the customers ?trolls? etc and mocking and insulting them even further. It?s astonishing, he clearly does not care at all how he is perceived by those who keep his business afloat and has absolutely no self awareness or remorse despite continually being called out for his rude and unprofessional behaviour. I can hardly wait to see his response to this review!I notice that many people have said online that they now prefer to travel beyond Ross for their postal services just to avoid this man, but why should local people be made to feel that they can?t use a valuable and essential service because of one unpleasant individual?I have made an official complaint about him and I notice others have too so we can only hope that he?s finally dealt with appropriately and people can once again visit their local post office without fear of abuse.

This is a very unhelpful post office that I had encountered with . They will sell you the priority and no options for second class mail when you go on the till .I was quote £53.00 today to send a parcel to the US . I told to the lady on the counter it is £35.00 online .But she just dismiss what I said and she said it is a Priority . I did not ask for a priority .I did not post my item to the till , I went home and did it online myself .So just to be aware you can now post a parcel online via Royal Mail .And this will be collected at your house as well .Get this business out of business , by posting parcel online instead .

Incredibly rude and unprofessional staff. Made a mistake in booking the wrong label online initially so then paid for another on eBay. The guy still claimed it was wrong but was clearly utter nonsense as he complained at me for buying it online and not from him. I went to a different branch nearby and they accepted the exact same label no problem. I also bought a few supplies from the other branch, the owners at Ross on Wye certainly won?t be getting any of my business. Awful.Edit:Yes I made a mistake the first time but I corrected it and you blatantly lied that I still had the wrong label, which the next branch confirmed I did not, all because you were sulking about me buying it online. If you have a problem with that, take it up with Royal Mail, not customers. And if you want to talk about being unprofessional then how about the old lady you shouted at across the shop, publicly shaming her? Clearly a common theme from these reviews. Disgraceful. I?ve lodged a formal complaint with Post office.

AVOID AT ALL COSTSNan goes here to drop off parcels so I?m writing this review for her as she?s not as technically advanced. She hates going into this post office she makes extra trips to go to the Hereford one due to the rudeness, and arrogance. They have lack of customer support and act like they are being bothered by you. It makes me extremely upset that staff think that?s it?s okay to treat members of ross on Wye like this. DIGUSTING!!! Will be writing a report to HR post offices to get new staff ASAP. If you go into this store record audio and send to HR. Do better.

Went to this store on Saturday to get my fathers passport which i was unable to do as the machine was not switched on and the very rude staff were insistent that they were closing and didnt have time. This establishment needs to take a look at there incompetent staff or else you will continue to loose customers.I have shopped elsewhere where the staff did care!

Manager is so rude.Gives misleading information to me about charges and still makes me pay more instead of admitting mistake.I will never shop/ post with them again. He has no desire to keep his customers happy. More happy to be rude

I went in to the store this morning to add credit to my incapacitated brother?s electric meter. I had my own ID but not my brother?s. The last time I did this I wasn?t asked for any ID whatsoever so didn?t think this would be a problem.I went to the very same girl that dealt with me on the earlier occasion but this time she insisted that I had to have ID for my bother. I said that she hadn?t wanted this before but she point blank denied that she would have done this. I should have left it at that but maintained that it was her and she had indeed accepted the transaction without proof of ID. At this point I was told that they were refusing to deal with me and I should go to another PO.Rude, surly, arrogant. How are this family allowed to continue to serve the people of Ross in this distasteful manner?

Rude service. I was directed from the bank to the post office regarding the cashing of the check, but unfortunately the post office does not deal with it and informs about it in a very unpleasant way.

Why advertise opening times when you are not going to be open for them. Online says open, sign on stores says should be open, but store is closed.Complete wasta of my time, thanks.

Can I give lower than 1? Good grief. Run. Run as fast as you can. Keep away. Such a horrible experience. Terrible layout. And the owner... quite possibly the worst person I gave dealt with in a post office. Go to Gorsley instead if you can. Sorry for all those that can't.

I've been using this post office for years because the closest one has an even worse staff. I have to drive like half an hour to use this post office. The owners of this place are very rude and I took it because I didn't have much options but in recent times it has gone even worse and I'll be looking for other places after today because it was the last drop. I get it, they don't make money on prepaid labels, the owner already gave me an earful during quarantine about this even though it was national recommendation to use the click & drop. Today the woman was going to take my parcel but then saw the label and used the royal mail strike as excuse to not take my parcel, I had already read the limitations of the strike online: "Post Offices will be open and offering the usual range of services on days when strike action is taking place. On all days of Royal Mail strike action, collections by Royal Mail from Post Offices will be limited", and I know they can deny your mail if they're full (clearly they were not since she was going to take it at first). Instead, I was told they couldn't accept prepaid due to the strike, and that I could come back tomorrow or go to the delivery office to drop it...ehmm... the delivery office is closed because of the strike... Lying much? Also, very selfish to assume that everyone has the time or they live close enough to go back any time. I wonder what excuse I would be given if I went tomorrow...I've read other comments here about their issue with prepaid labels, I would prefer they put a sign outside, but I imagine they're not allowed because of their contract with Post Office so they're just rude instead.
