My partner and I recently bought each other rings from here and we are delighted by both the quality of the products and the customer service we received when we needed to get one of them resized. I cannot recommend this beautiful shop and the lovely staff highly enough. A well established, family run business in the heart of Hitchin.

Amazing customer service. I was looking for a valuation for a specialist item and although the person who does the valuations for Gatwards was unable to help they suggested an alternative. I went back just to say they recommended person could not help and Andrew came back again with further suggestions. This felt like customer service from years gone by, Gatwards were not gaining anything from assisting me but they did it anyway. Thank you so much.

Would give 0 if i could dealt with very unprofessionally. Took a ring in to be sized and claw fixed. Lady went backwards and forwards with jeweller on site and agreed price there and then. Imagine my dismay when 2 days later received a call telling me that now all claws now needed doing and the price would be 4 x that all ready quoted and agreed in the jewellers at point of agreeing for them to do the work. Was extremely annoyed and matters made worse by giggly young sales assistant who thought it was funny when I went back to collect the ring and told them i didn?t want to deal with such unprofessional people!Can honestly say for a well known jewellers you let yourselves down very badly and have now taken my ring to another reputable jewellers who quoted less than half to do the complete job so shame on you all!!!!UPDATEThe price was agreed at the time with the lady in the shop who kept going to the back of the shop to see the jeweller so clearly it was never looked at properly in the first place! And I was never told that the price was subject to yet another assessment of the ring! Why on earth would i want to talk to you now after the non professional attitude from your staff

Just be careful if you?re taking something personally valuable in to them.I took my 6-month-old wedding ring in to be engraved. The cost of £75 is quite high compared to other establishments we asked, so expected a high quality service.The engraving itself was fine. However, without asking they decided to give my ring, which clearly had a brushed finish, a complete polish before giving it back to me. Naturally I wasn?t happy about this, and in the end Gatwards did attempt to reapply the brushed finish for me to the best of their abilities, and the restoration was reasonable.My main issue was with the attitude of the staff. It was just constant non-apologies, insisting there was no way they could have known it had a brushed finish because the ring was ?so badly damaged?. It had a few scratches on but anyone with the gift of sight, and presumably an experienced goldsmith, could have recognised the finish on the ring. As a defence, they proceeded to show me the ?before? photo they took of my ring, and indeed the image they showed my was of such low quality and in such strange lighting you couldn?t see the finish very well. Indeed, you couldn?t really tell what colour the ring was?In the end I got my ring engraved for £75, and the finish is close to what it used to be, but disappointed with the service we received and, if their excuses are genuine, I?d be skeptical of their competence.
