I struggle with the online and phone help desk of HSBC. Had a really good experience today with the lady (Ms Rayatt) on the desk processing business payments.

Absolutely shocking customer service. The deputy manager Wendy Watts was personally obstructive and rude to me in person as well as deliberately unhelpful. As an HSBC customer for 29 years I will be closing my 3 accounts over the weekend. Disgraceful.

Shocking service. 3 visits and I still haven?t been able to change my name on the account after getting married. I was told I needed an appointment then I didn?t and then i needed an appointment again. Then my marriage certificate (which I have used everywhere else) didn?t ?look right? and looked cropped !!! You can?t make this up. So I?ll be closing my account and going elsewhere. I feel like I?ve really been taken for an idiot.

I went to the Hichin branch today with a problem and needed help I saw a Mr Muhammad I asked to see the manager and was told there were no managers on site as these staff were no help with the problem yesterday it was pointless going over it again. As I cannot get to a to see a manager with my problem I must look to change banks.

I was given really great assistance by Sian the customer service representative at the Hitchin branch.She helped me order a replacement card by assisting a telephone call to HSBC. Something I had been unable to do on my own.Friendly service, great customer care.

I went to HSBC Hitchin branch to see what my options were if I renewed my existing mortgage. Wendy Watts was the personnel helping me. She patiently helped me in every stage of setting up the online and mobile banking and giving me all the quotes for the renewal. I think HSBC customer service in the branch is excellent, which changed my mind from their telephone banking experience. I was seriously considering changing the bank but now I will happily stay with them.

There is almost never anyone behind the counter yet there are always at least two members of staff just hanging about by the self-service machines. What is the point? Even basic services like getting change are impossible to do.

Save your time and money, go to Santander! Only useful advise I've had from this branch is to get the ombudsman involved against HSBC and I won. Terrible bank!

Dealt with a big old indian lady with glasses at the counter who had a attitude problem. Asked her to do one simple thing and she had a face of fire and was very reluctant to perform the task, making a pigs ear of it in the process. Its such a shame that people like her let down a bank which has provided decent service in the past. I know many customers that have had problems with her and gone to a different branch. This probably explains why the bank is not as busy as it should be. Sadly it can just take one person to let the whole team down. HSBC Hitchin branch, please take note that's if you care about your customers.
