This would of been a 1 star review if it wasn't for the friendly staff and excellent optician who did a thorough eye examination.Where this all falls apart is when you choose your frames get measured up and pay only to get a phone call two hours later to say that the frames you choose are discontinued and that they have one display pair and I could choose another. First of all why would I want a grubby used pair of display glasses at full price? Then have to go through the rigmarole of choosing another pair and the measuring up that is required for my prescription.This is the second time this has happened to me using Specsavers each time at different branches.Why have discontinued glasses on display?Come Specsavers sort yourselves out.Not only does it waste customers time but in this case you lost a sale for which I now have to wait 5-7 days for a refund.

My elderly mother was seen in November for an eye test, was prescribed glasses and went back in January as she felt they were not right, they were blurry and didn?t fit her correctly, after some adjustments with a sales person we were sent back on our way as there wasn?t an optician available to recheck her eyes, despite an appointment being made. After trying to get used to the glasses at home there was still no improvement, so I phoned and made an appointment to return and they made the appointment just outside the 100 days no quibble return even though I said to the lady on the phone I know we have to return asap because of the return timescales. The sales lady even said not to worry about that and that she would put a note on the system. Once again they didn?t book her in to retest her eyes but with a sales person, after repeating the issues and insisting the glasses just were not right they asked us to come back to have her eyes retested with the optician. They retested her eyes and confirmed her prescription was now different but said that didn?t mean the original prescription was wrong and even though we had expressed issues with the glasses twice they refused to replace them and wanted to charge my mum hundreds of pounds for new pairs. The sales assistant that tried to help today was so kind and understanding but her hands were tied by the Directors response who refused any responsibility. I felt they took advantage of my mother and just wanted to make more money. 15 weeks between original eye test and today and they expected a disabled pensioner to pay out for 2 sets of glasses when the originals were not correct in the first place. We were there for 3 hours to get to this point, a complete waste of my disabled mothers time, when attending these appointments is difficult enough with her disability. I wouldn?t recommend at all.

One of the best specsavers store I have visited. Very polite staff, keep you well informed. The opticians are very knowledgeable and more importantly confident about the advice they give you.

I found spec savers in letchworth to be a professional friendly opticians who deliver a high standard of customer service .Leanne was brilliant so nice went through everything and explained the whole process .

Update to my reviewIn general my last visits have been much better and service IN shop is good. However, getting anyone to answer the phone is a problem. Their message says they will call you back. I called more than 5 times one day and never had a call back. The owner has made comments that it is pain when people don't keep appointments but maybe some people can't get through to cancel and don't want to go online to do it.Although I am almost sorted now, It has taken a LONG time, over 8 weeks, to get things almost sorted so I can't give a high rating. The initial test and customer service from most people is OK. A few need some training in things like data protection and how to check properly. Richard is a superstar in making glasses fit and his has brilliant customer service and I have received something in the way of compensation. However, being given the wrong prescription at the start and having to wait so long because no one seemed to chase things up to get it sorted has meant that I have not been impressed with this visit.

I checked in for my appointment and waited to be seen. Sat for 40 mins, went to see what?s going on and was told they didn?t check me in.Later I got a text saying my glasses are ready. Turned up to collect them and they couldn?t find them. I had to call them myself 3 days later and they had them. Really bad first experience. I understand they could be short staffed but this was not nice.

The staff was helpful and attentive. There is a wide area of glasses on offer and is generally far cheaper than other opticians.

The Optician was great,knew straightaway whst my problem was. Other staff were cold & flippent. No help choosing glasses,no price points to follow & it seemed like I was a bother to serve, even though I'm paying for a service. Only perked up when trying to upsell me anti glare, scratch & if i needed two sets on what is clearly a wanted bonus for but now pay later plan.. I would go back for any eye test as the Optician was caring & knowledgeable but I'd take my prescription somewhere else.

Accompanied my adult, special needs son on Monday. I am always wary because most opticians never seem to make allowance for his limitations, but this one was wonderful. I don't know his name, but he was great, so patient and had all the details and had obviously prepared for them. I cannot praise him highly enough.

Such a fantastic team here - I was worried that I hadn't removed a contact lens properly - the staff were very understanding about my concerns. I was seen quickly, even though the branch was very busy. The optician was so thorough in his examination of my eye. Thank you for putting my mind at rest!
