I would full recommend a visit to Osborne for anyone that is visiting the Isle of Wight.Staff are friendly and full of information & history.Parking is plentiful for cars and motorhomes. You can easily spend a whole day here. Be sure to pick a day with good weather so you can make the most of the beautiful gardens.

Weve been here many times, but was disappointed to find that this time, only the ground floor was open. This should be explained when you get your tickets.

Very friendly and enthusiastic staff and volunteers.Would love to return and go below stairs and to Swiss cottage some day.We got very lucky with the weather and had bright sunshine for our walk to the beach, which luckily had reopened the day we visited. The house and grounds are beautifully maintained.

OSBORNE HOUSE - ISLE OF WIGHTIf I came away from Osborne House with one thing, it is the sense of love which the Royal family had for each other, but overwhelmingly, the love which was shared between Queen Victoria and her Albert. We spent most of our time there in the magnificent house and terrace gardens. Every nook and cranny shows evidence of a family which played, created, designed, developed, lived and laughed together in every room. The staff are wonderful, ready and able to answer every question.Happily we will be coming back as we ran out of time to get to see the Walled Gardens, the Swiss Cottage, the museum, and beach with the Queen?s changing cabin. Next time the entrance will be free, as we joined National Heritage while we were in the gift shop, as they had a 15 month?s membership for the price of 12, and they refunded the cost of our entry which we?d paid today. A Bargain!

Would probably be better to visit in the summer. My partner and I went in February when the Swiss Cottage and Museum were shut, so the only thing we did besides walking round the grounds was the guided tour of the house. Our tour guide was lovely and didn't rush us, and explained everything in great detail. Would quite like to go back when everything is open and the beach hopefully isn't flooded, but if you're going to go to an English Heritage site on the Island, we preferred Carisbrooke Castle as it was cheaper and there's more to it.

It was a lovely place to visit. one of the very few places open on New Year's Day in Isle of Wight. Typical Royal palace with its grandiore and plenty of artefacts to appreciate. There are beautiful gardens and walks at the rear.We could only visit downstairs. Upstairs is closed in winter. The Swiss cottage and Victoria baths were also closed. I guess the ticket price should have been reduced as only a part of the palace is open compared to summer.

Only had 2.5 hours to explore - nowhere near enough. Easily a full day's outing, especially if you like to find a quiet corner to sit and stare for a while. Lots to see, both indoors and out.Visited 1st January and surprised to see swathes of early daffodils and spectacular rhododendrons in full flush. Must be a micro climate - sheltered by magnificent trees.

Beach was closed due to flooding. Only ground floor open due to being winter. No tours. I guess because its winter. Same price though.

The summer home of Queen Victoria is worth a visit if you like looking around statly homes. The restoration work is constant here, but the work to date has really brought the splendour. back to the place.Easy to get to from Cowes and parking is plentiful. It was worth the visit, though the four-legged friend is limited the grounds only, so this may cause an issue for those who cannot leave the dog with someone.

Right. Let's get this straight. We didn't visit the house on this occasion. The purpose of our visit was to go to the shop and cafe only. We needed some mead for Christmas, and as we had been to waitrose beforehand and were sadly disappointed. On speaking to the lovely lady at the checkout, who, coincidentally, also works at Osborne, reliably informed us that the gift shop at Osborne had a selection of meads. So hot footed it up the road. Eureka, big selection of mead and other delicious alcoholic offerings. Not cheap, but hey its Christmas. Lots of lovely things to buy. Visited the cafe for hot chocolate, also delicious, and then home. No need to purchase tickets to go to the cafe or shop, only the house which is beautiful, a real gem. Go if you can and treat yourself to something a bit special.

Although it was not completely open what we saw was superb. The house guides made the visit magical. Every volunteer made us feel so welcome. Certainly we will return when fully open. Hope the severe storm damage to the beach area can be repaired in time for next years reopening date. We missed not being able to walked down. Thumbs up to the staff at the cafe by the house they cope magnificently when a surge of visitors arrived. Your cream teas were mouthwatering. Thanks to all for a great visit.

Overall a disappointing experience. Quite expensive, and a long conga through gloomy, ill-lit rooms often with peeling paint. By contrast a bustling and well-lit shop. I felt embarrassed at what the foreign tourists would have made of it. Of course there are some highlights eg the family rooms and the Durbar room. The grounds are interesting.Overall I thought a really unimaginative and dull presentation, at a high price. It could be so much better.
