The new barriers are awful, was stuck with a big group of people unable to get in because they were not working properly. Very hard to get into the cafe from the store now.

I have always loved this store but not anymore. I went in today to find barriers and a facial recognition screen at the entrance. It now feels unwelcoming, dystopian and intrusive. This is another tracking system brought in for control and I am sad to say not going to be shopping there as often. Anything I can buy from a greengrocer,butcher,farmer and chemist I will get from there from now on. Sainsbury?s you are anti customer and the loyalty I once had towards you is no longer.

Went to Sainsbury's restaurant where me and the person I was with waited 45-50 minutes for burnt hard cod and chips. We couldn't even chew the food it was so dried out. Upon receiving the meal and realising it's sub par quality I flagged down a server and explained how appalling it was on top of the waiting time, It really was inedible. They told us they could replace the meals for us but by this point I was in no mood to wait any longer and was put off of eating anything by this point too. The restaurant staff picked up the phone and internally called customer service then told us to walk down to customer services and we'll be fully refunded.We walked down to customer services where at first they argued I explai we've literally just been told to come down and get a refund. I don't expect to be told one thing in the restaurant and then customer services act clueless about it despite them already being made aware by the restaurant staff. That was the whole point in them calling... Once customer services admits fault and apologises they mention a gift card. By this point I'm absolutely fuming... I was told upstairs I'd be refunded. Therefore I expect a refund onto my card the same way I'd paid. The person I was with said no it's okay we'll take a gift card so we can buy tobacco. The customer service staff then explains they can't be used on tobacco. I'm spitting feathers at this point as I feel I've been boxed into a corner forcing me to buy more stuff from there when I'd really just like my money and to walk out. Eventually I did get my money refunded onto my card but I had to argue like hell that all refunds should be refunded in the same manner I paid for the food. The restaurant used to be alright but now it's a total shambles. I noticed as we left the restaurant and headed to customer services there was 3/4-1/2 plates of food people had left on their tables. So it appears we wasn't the only people who couldn't stomach that piss poor excuse for food. Won't be returning.
