Does not open at 8:30 on a Saturday. Nobody there, parcel machines were off. Shop staff confirmed the Post Office opens at 9. That's also what it says for morning opening time every day on the sign in the window.

they have many counters however only one counter is being manned and the rest are shut. queue is extending almost to the entrance so if you?re not prepared to wait for 1hr+ to post something this is a waste of time. no organisation, lack of staff and not ideal for main post office in town. the one in cheriton is much better.

It would work better if it could be separated from WH Smith. The Post Office and W. H. SMITH are both fine institutions but both suffer from being amalgamated.

Terrible customer service. Post office closes at 530pm. Arrived at 430pm to send a parcel. There was only few people in the queue and was told that not able to join the queue as the shop will be closed soon and won?t be able to serve you.

The staff are doing a really good job under very stressful and often chaotic conditions. The pandemic has lead to a massive increase in post being sent and the requirements for distancing often lead to queues that go right through WH Smith all the way to the other side of the street -- but don't let that put you off. The average actual queuing time (I visit daily) is still pretty short. Usually 10 - 15 minutes even when it's at maximum. The queue looks a lot longer than it actually takes because of the spacing requirements. If it was a normal queue, it wouldn't be half as long.My best advice, as a very regular user, is to check up what services you want on the Post Office website, which is really simple to use, so you don't find yourself uncertain when you get to the front. You'll almost certainly be redirected to the Self-Service tills (fully guided by staff, no worries) except for things like taking out money. They will try to upsell you a bit, but don't take it personally. Unless you're sending very expensive things, you don't need insurance. Basic tracking services are included with all parcel rates and so paying extra for tracking is pointless because it just tells you the specific name of which post office hub the item travels through and at what times. You'll always be able to check whether or not an item has been delivered or is still waiting to be delivered with any of the parcel rates. In my experience, 2nd Class Signed For is almost always the best bet for expensive stuff. 2nd Class Small Parcel is the best bet for things which aren't particularly expensive. 1st and 2nd Class delivery times are generally pretty similar, too. It's just differing in the guarantee, and the prices can shoot up unnecessarily. I hope this helps!

I'd heard of this post office losing packages in the past, but had decided that it was just unfortunate for those people. However, yesterday I went in, queued for 20 minutes and then had an assistant take charge of the self service counter. I asked specifically for next day delivery and tracking. They messed about with the screens on the computer and advised me I didn't need to pay as much but would still get next day and tracking. As it turns out, I ended up with "Signed for" which is NOT next day delivery. Now I'm checking the status and of course I see nothing but that it has been accepted at the post office. When I phoned them up I get "there's not much we can do now". This is very poor service and I am left wondering if my mail is even in safe hands.

My wife went to post a parcel and letter today. She was served by Keandra (hope this is how it is spelt) who was excellent with her.My wife was flustered and needed help. She said Keandra was friendly, helpful and patient with her.My wife temporarily lost the letter and when she found it Keandra was again really helpful to her.We will certainly continue to use this Post Office as we are impressed with the excellent service.

Post Office was closed today. Had walked over a mile each way with a parcel, based on their opening times. Very disappointed as Post Office website said open and Google also said open.

Long waits. Changed queueing route through barriers without blocking old one off or clear notification. Then got told off by counter staff for not queueing in correct place. Seems to also operate as Citizen Advice too regardless of queue length...waited 20 minutes recently in queue of eight people whilst customer enquired about personal legal matters regarding deceased mother.

Went in to get some foreign currency, huge queues but sign over foreign currency desk stating to queue there for currency, was advised abruptly that I had to join the other queue despite sign above her desk. Left and went a few yards down road to Bank, served in minutes and with a smile, wont be using this post office again

Disappointed that there were no signs with closing times for New Year's Eve, also staff quite abrupt.

Under staffed. Queueing indicators not working. Staff friendly enough but under too much pressure.

A generally poor post office experience - usually busy and the staff are just too busy to offer better service. Most staff are trying their best and are helpful but this isn't universal. Have had a couple of parcels go missing when sent from this particular post office over the years.
