Food was cold. When I told the staff, there was no offer to rectify just an 'oh sorry about that'. Doesn't do much for the brand slogan "This is M&S food" ?

Coffee is disgusting as now made from push button machine. Atmosphere terrible as crammed in more tables at comforts expense. Food ok but pricey.

It was lovely that the cafè had gluten free sandwiches and cake as a opion. I really enjoyed them. Finally a cafè with delicious food I can eat. Costa/Starbucks need to take note!!

Been to the cafe twice recently. The cafe itself is nice but the coffee simply isn't hot enough. Even if you ask for "extra hot" it makes no difference. The first time I went a few of the items I'd planned on ordering weren't available.

I previously left a poor review of this cafe due to its glacial speed of service, however since its had its refurb to ordering screens and table trackers, i am delighted to say everytime ive been since the service has been super quick and excellent - is now a firm fave when we're in hempstead!

The cafe was filthy . Barely any of the tables had been cleared. Service was slow. No saucers any more. Felt like it was a 3rd rate transport cafe. Only 3 of the 6 ladies toilets were working . Very poor and disappointing experience.

Very disappointed with marks today found a bra in the reduced section went to pay price did not show reduced asked staff member to check she said no it?s not with out checking , I then went back to reduced section and found 4 more bras exactly the same called staff member again only for her to walk away from me mid sentence . Very rude . She did not return so I found her gave her all the bras and walked away . I?m sorry but 4+ bras is not a mistake with 2 reduced stickers on each one . Hempstead valley shopping centre

Yesterday I took my mum out of her care home for a nice afternoon and we went to the M&S cafe at Hempstead Valley, Chatham that we?ve been frequenting for years? sadly now however it?s like a McDonalds and you order at a touch screen and have to pay by card (none of which my elderly mum would be able to do by herself having vision impairment and not technically competent). Bearing in mind I?m doing this for my mum as I personally avoid your cafes now that have taken up this new system, due to alienating the older generation that the majority of your customers are!We like to share a toastie but there?s no way of mentioning this on the screen so when the sandwich was served to us (thankfully still by a human) i had to immediately send it back to the kitchen to have them split it into two plates.But I digress?Firstly after payment I was advised to take a tracker (either side of the screen) to the table. There were no trackers either side of the screen to I had to call a human over. This human then got bombarded with other customers not knowing what to do at the screens, and having similar issues to me.The human finally located a tracker for me, to which mum and I proceeded to find a table.There was only one available that WE had to not only clean but take away the last inhabitants half eaten food, plates etc., in order to sit at.The coffees we ordered first arrived and mine looked like dishwater before having even tasted it (plus I paid the premium 30p extra for the single blend coffee) having tried it, I was correct in my assumption, so called another human over to complain. ?I?ve never tasted anything so bad? I told her, and she proceeded to tell me that the single bean coffee was changed from Columbian to Rwandan and everyone is saying the same (something that the computer screen to order did not make me aware of). I was then offered their normal house blend to which on completion of our meal I would have to see another real human at the desk to claim my 30p refund.All of this could honestly have been avoided if there were humans to interact with at the start? I imagine you believe that this system will clear up time for humans to clear more tables and get more done, but quite frankly it?s had the opposite effect.I really hope they return to human ordering interaction, where someone could have told me their change in single bean coffee etc., and i could have asked for the sandwich to be split onto two plates. God forbid anyone that is misinformed of a change to ingredients and is allergic to something!!

Awful cafe. Paper plates and cups. There was absolutely no selection on the menu as everything had run out. It does not compare in anyway to other M&S cafes i have been. This is the worst

For the last 2 weeks this so called flag ship restaurant has had numerous problems. Last week the dish washer broke so paper cups and most things off the menu. Went back yesterday looking forward to brunch and latte. This time no milk could be heated and 70 % of menu unavailable. Just been back this morning for latte. Huge queue at payment/order machines and nothing again. They must be losing a fortune . Not good enough Marks. Also tables not cleared and sticky and dirty. I never write bad reviews but this needed one. Get your act together managers!!!!!

All the tables were dirty, staff reluctant to clean one so we could sit down, run out of milk alternative and many food choices - grimy, messy, slovenly and very poor.

we have been going to Marks and Spencer?s for quite a few years for a light lunch, but since the re-vamp it is not now an enjoyable place to eat. For instance, my partner ordered a salmon and egg roll, and it arrived in a box!! For the cost was just not worth buying. Also the table was dirty, my chair had a puddle of tea on it!! had to swap that over. What has it come to now, not even the nicety of a saucer. So now go to Tesco cafe, better quality of food, and the chunky chips are superb, much better value. Sorry M.S Two more customers defected. Vee and H.

Popped in Store to buy a t-shirt.Self pay was closed, so waited at counter for 5 minutes. No staff member appeared so left item at counter and went home. Poor service and won't return.
