Non existent service from disinterested, standoffish and rude staff, when the desk is even manned and they're not just reliant on the machines to do all the work for them. I heartily recommend changing banks if you bank in Lancaster and require in-person services.

Terrible customer service. Was told we have to go into the branch to open a joint account and change name of my wife. Waited 15 minutes at the counter to be told we are not making any appointments - come back tomorrow and try your luck.Asked if we could at least book an appointment which was also not possible.Why having a branch when you don't want to serve customers? And why telling customers you have to come into the branch when you refuse to serve them in such?

I am a customer with HSBC and have recently moved into the area. While agreeing that unless you have phone banking set up it is difficult to contact by phone I have excellent experience of staff in the branch. There is often a queue, but that is not the fault of the staff. Once I got to speak to someone they were thorough, patient, professional and reassuring. I could also see that they were going out of their way to help other customers. They have been fantastic with me on two separate occasions and I would have no hesitation in going there again.
