“This is a lovely country pub offering very good attentive service and an interesting menu. We had lunch there and stayed 2 nights having returned from Northumberland. The room was excellent well appointed with a comfortable bed. It’s such a sadness that the pub has now closed. The proprietor was very engaging as were his staff. We wish them well in the future and hope they return to the hospitality industry sometime.Rooms: The quality of the fittings, toiletries and the upmarket feel about the room. Quality shower and bath.Walkability: Very rural with good access to footpaths .”

“The room was lovely. Shower a bit small in the en suite but otherwise tip top. I was worried about being over a pub but needn’t have been. Good night’s sleep and no trouble at all. Hospitality ok. A bit stilted and not overly welcoming on arrival and service at breakfast was a bit high and mighty but still decent enough. Note the door into the bar for breakfast isn’t locked, despite looking like it is. Why they don’t just open it I don’t know but I could tell I was considered thick for not knowing this. Breakfast itself was excellent. However note you only have a 30 minute window (8.30-9.00) to take it and it’s the full English or nothing (apart from cereals). Not even a choice of eggs. Not a problem for us but best be aware of this. Quality of ingredients was excellent as was the cooking. Price was decent too. Overall very good.”

“I can't comment on rooms as I didn't stay here. Met up with friends for a meal. Both food and service were very good and good value for money. I would suggest putting post code in your sat nav as its not the easiest place to find, especially in the dark.”
