This is an absolute gem of a pub! There's always a friendly face behind the bar and the locals are really friendly. The pub itself is warm and welcoming, and there's a great garden behind the large carpark. The selection of drinks is good, the menu is great and the prices are reasonable. There's also plenty of entertainment to keep everyone entertained. Would definitely recommend.

Had a lovely lunch with friends yesterday 5th July. Service was very prompt even though there were 16 of us. Food was delicious and the staff are very friendly and welcoming. Love going here.

A great village pub, really friendly locals and a fantastic staff, all very dog-friendly. Large inside, a good car park and a lovely garden - always with something on to entertain the family. There?s a pool table and regular entertainment, always a good night but especially at the weekend. The beers are brilliant and the menu has something for everyone.

We regularly have lunch after walking with a rambling club. The food is good, the service friendly. which is why our club will return in July. We visit a wide range of different pubs over a years walking, and onlyreturn to the good ones.

25 people for lunch, we were advised they were short staffed so lunch would be slow, but we have been before and there was no problem. Food good, staff good and running round like mad, this is a small village pub and a real find, will be going again, can recommend KM

Hopefully a one-off event. Went with our walking group and pre-ordered lunch at 10.15am. Returned at 12.45pm. At 1.45pm we had not been served with our soup. Pub cliamed shortage of staff. In fainess, some group members received their lunch (slowly). Since we had other arrangements for the afternoon, we left unfed at 1.50pm. On the positive side, there was no problem with a full refund. The menu looked good and the prices reasonable. J&JB Leics

Went here with a group of friends Friday night for karaoke and disco, was amazing! Great time, great vibes, everyone welcoming especially the amazing landlady and her staff. After a great night feeling rough the next day we went back (perfect hang over cure lol) and not only was the mood still fantastic but the landlady went above and beyond to make my fussy eating self a beautiful breakfast ? Would recommend all day

Gem of a pub. Staff are friendly and welcoming. The landlady is such a lovely, accommodating, caring person, looks after her customers. Such a fun night with karaoke and DJ.

My friend was racially abused but the landlord and customers. We only lasted 10 mins. We were told to f**k off my customers and the landlady. The main target was our Asian friend who everyone targeted on our arrival. The whole pub followed us out and chased up the road. DISGUSTING RACISTS!

Used to eat here a lot , but the new landlord either ignored the menu or couldn't do it. It was very bad and uneatable. What a shame our family liked it here and spent a lot of money here.

Myself and my 4 year attended the family Halloween party that the pub was hosting. They provided a disco, party games with prizes and food for the children and it was all for free!. The people who own the pub are so lovely and friendly and they're so welcoming to everybody. The beer garden is a real bonus too. The food is good value (particularly the kids menu) and there is a good choice.

We were visiting Calke Abbey from Sleaford in Lincolnshire and we wanted somewhere to eat quite local to Ibstock. Found this place and saw that the reviews were good and the menu seemed good, so we booked for 6 of us to eat here. Out first impression was a little mixed as the pub is really very small and not what you would usually expect for a foodie place, but we were made so welcome and a table was put together for us at the end by the pool table. The kids were happy as Larry as they had colouring and little toys and games to play with and Mum was super happy as she got a nice big mug of tea. We ordered burgers, steaks and a mixed grill and rhe kids had korma off the kids menu. The portions were huge and sadly they couldn't eat it all but it was nice to see a decent sized kids meal. The steaks and mixed grill were fab and my Dad who travels a lot for work and eats out a fair bit, said it was the best steak he had had in a very long time. The service was also really quick, we got our food fast and a check back to make sure we were all happy with our meals. A lovely meal, a lovely atmosphere and wonderful staff and landlords. Will definitely be back when we revisit the Abbey next year.
