I have been a customer of Barclays for the past 45 years. In the last few years, the queues have been getting bigger, the customer satisfaction has been depleting, staff numbers reduced. The Bank wants you to carry out your own transactions using the wall-embedded machines, counters open for only Business customers. The bosses award themselves huge bonuses and pay rises. Profits first? Customers do not seem to matter.

Reception and counter staff were very attentive and helpful. My situation was a little complex so I was especially grateful to have Anissa explain and talk me through the whole thing! She even wrote a step by step guide for me so that I won't forget.

It's always been a stifling experience visiting Barclays, and it's just getting tighter as time goes on. As if it wasn't difficult enough to be seen with massive queues and all sorts of limitations, they've decided to reduce opening hours. I'm not going to bank with Barclays anymore; surely there are better places that care about their consumers rather than being gatekeepers.

Don't bank with barclays. They are making my 77year old mum who doesn't drive go into town just to prove who she is or she can't use her card because they have put a block on it. Rubbish bank and rubbish customer service

UPDATEDIT GETS EVEN BETTER THE STAFF AT THE COUNTER SAID PAY YOUR BILL AGAIN & ?IF? WE FIND THE MONEY THAT YOU HAVE PAID US WE WILL REIMBURSE YOU!!!A shamble of a branch. Paid a business credit card bill at the branch which was a choir in the first instance as this is a part time bank which has closed all its branches. Took forever to work out where to go to. Following week receive a letter saying we have not paid and the usual about interest and late charges. Contact Barclaycard business commercial who were a waste of time and said we have to go into branch. So another journey but the part time bank was closed as it?s just gone 3pm. Next day another journey to the bank hoping that the matter will be resolved. Took receipt which they gave me, copy of the cheque which they had cashed and bank statement showing that the money had left my account. Sorry we can?t help you, the bank that the money came out of must prove that they have paid us! What a farce, time to move to different business credit card company as these lot are absolutely useless. They have the receipt, have it in on their cctv that they have received the payment but my account is still blocked. No help whatsoever. Waste of time and space, it?s not as if running a business is not hard enough but have to make daily trips to this part time bank. No idea how this is going to be resolved. Can?t wait to read the none-sense response

These charlatans have inexplicably closed my dads business account, even though he has had the account with them for 45 years. No proper explanation was ever provided - they just kept on sending text messages saying more information was needed. The account had functioned without problems for decades, so what was the issue now? My 69 year old dad (he has various ailments and struggles to walk) visited the branch to resolve but was met with a plethora of stooges armed with laptops. Barclays can move their city centre branch, make it look amazing, but if the staff show zero empathy to customers, then it all means nothing. In this instance my dad tried to use his business card in one of the machines inside. The card was not returned by the machine, with one of the stooges advising the account had been closed and cheque was in the post regarding the balance on the account (can they legally close an account like that, which has operated for decades?). They never mentioned anything about the direct debits and standing orders linked to the account, what happens to them? There was no human element. It really was the gutter, a slap in the face and a kick in the you know where. They have no compassion, you are just seen as an obstacle......to get out of the way. Nobody offered to help or resolve the matter at hand - they could not see the undue stress this torrid experience was having on an elderly customer, who had banked there for decades. My advice would be to seek out a bank that shows a bit more empathy, that employs a modicum of common sense. They see an elderly customer and have a bespoke customer service experience ready to tackle the issues and provide resolutions. Dont bother leaving any scripted response below, pretending that you care - YOU DONT. Lions will lie down with lambs before i step foot in there again. The branch is full of incompetent staff akin to a boat adrift in the ocean - and theres no breeze.

We have been trying to receive a refund of our money, that has been paid in by our pension by mistake into our old Barclays bank account just before it was closed. This has been going on for over 3 months now! The customer Service team that can be reached cannot provide any updates about the status of our claim, apparently they cannot call their colleagues from the claims department and they have to e-mail them. However, nobody calls you back, they just do not care and they still have our money. My husband phoned Barclays at least 10 times. This is such a serious issue and not a small amount of money, but the handling of this case is shocking. It is the worst customer service we have ever experienced!

Almost like any other bank in the UK. Poor services, poor customer support, refusing access to services for no obvious reasons or justifications. Banks here do not understand the meaning of "customer service", they just set on their desks ready to take your money when they want it as if you owe them the service, and Barclays is not an exception. The worst service you can get anywhere in the world!

Dire service all round. Terrible rate of interest on savings but high on borrowing. Closure of local branch. Pathetic opening times. Terrible customer service. Long wait times since they have now closed all of the counters except for paying in cash. Treated like an inconvenience rather than customer. Shocking experience every time.

Extremely poor customer service and the staffs were behaving like I owe something from them.I was minding my own business and talking to my mom but one of the staff shouted at me as if she was my teacher and told me to wait in the queue and stand properly. I was flabbergasted by their attitude. Bunch of ignorant and discourteous staffs smh.
