One staff member is very weird and unpleasant. He seems determined to deter the few customers they still have.He does a lot of damage to a place that is otherwise ok.

I really want to like this Co-op as it is quieter and seems more upmarket than Aldi or Morrison's - though more expensive. You have to pay to park (if you shop there, it seems fair to be reimbursed for parking). I like the space of the shop and many Co-op brands. The staff is a real negative though - this store seems poorly staffed and the few who working are unfriendly to the point of bordering on surly. Co-op is lucky that is has so little competition nearby.

This is a very poor supermarket, which is clearly remote enough to avoid being effectively managed. One member of staff actually goes out of his way to make things difficult for customers he (for whatever reason) takes a dislike to. He's clearly worked out that his mild but obvious issues exempt him from dismissal. Several others are rude, surly, or ignorant. It's also very expensive, but everyone knows that.I really wouldn't know whether this place deserves one star or not, but since it's mandatory we have to award it for the review to be published.

Wow, where do I start when talking about this co-op in particular.

staff so rude tell you to pay 10p for a bag when you?ve got your own and then follow you to your car

Obscenely expensive on most items and one member of staff harrasses regular customers until they stop visiting, which works. He still gets paid and he knows they lack the guts to sack him...?It's still there after 33 years though. Why? Because some people think it's Louth's Waitrose or M&S.Best to shop at Morrisons, Aldi, in Grimsby, or have your food delivered (by Sainsbury's or Waitrose, perhaps?).

Gail Dean and her team are very helpful.Incase you don't know about coop: The Co-operative movement started way back in 1844 in the town of Rochdale. A few local people got together to start a society that would treat the local people with respect and provide affordable food for all.The Rochdale Principles are still the guiding rule book the Co-op lives by. The Co-op membership was revolutionary for its day, allowing people from all walks of life to benefit from being a member. They didn't discriminate and anyone who could uphold the responsibilities could become a member. The Second World War put a stop to any further expansion for the Co-op. The CWS moved to support the war effort by using its power to source much needed suppliers from overseas. The CWS started planning for the future after the war, knowing there would be massive disruption to the food supply for the country. It published a report in 1944 called 'Policy and Programme' recommending the merger of CWS and the Scottish CWS into one large wholesaler. The report also recommended merging some of the local movements. The report was badly received and it wasn't completely implemented. In 1942 the London Co-operative Society opened its first self service store, leading the way in this new kind of shopping.

Solid selection of goods and helpful and welcoming staff. Not sure about the paid parking tho, that's a new one on me.

Absolutely amazing supermarket. Always has loads of food marked down. Great to pop into, but I'm not sure I'd go for my main shop as it isn't huge.

Beware when using the Louth town centre branch of Co-op. Over the last few months we?ve noticed that freshness of their fruit and veg is generally of a poor standard. We?ve frequently had to throw away items due to the poor quality control and/or storage at this store. The other branches in the area seem okay but the Northgate store is not good. On opening bags of salad potatoes or packs of onions etc we?ve often had to through items away. The last straw was a pack of tomatoes - extensive mould was concealed under the packet label and there was still 4 days to go until the best before date!
