My father was put into this care home very much against my wishes since I wanted him to remain at home with me and next door on either side to my sister and his eldest grandson, and next-door-but-one to his youngest grandson (we are a close family largely thanks to my wonderful father whom three people in their letters of sympathy have described as 'the kindest man on the planet' . I felt that much of the care at The Poplars was good although my father confided that he hated being forced to play carpet bowls (so much NOT his sport!). I also deplore the fact that, although I had phoned the home daily and they must have had a record of my number, on the day my beloved father died nobody phone me to tell me that he had died, which is disgraceful!
