Lovely traditional pub but needs an overhaul to ? dated decor and furnishings , overgrown play area out the back , looking tired and a bit scruffy ? customer service from landlady is cold and lacks any friendliness or hearty warm welcomes ? drinks not cheap but to be honest nowhere is cheap nowadays !!

Lacks atmosphere - feels forced and cringey. Landlady is painfully unwelcoming - heard her moaning about other customers that had just left which was very unprofessional and constantly was complaining that nobody uses the pub anymore. Locals are not friendly - big tall guy called John kept glaring at us when we were laughing and made us feel unwelcome. Drinks a bit on the expensive side, bar lady was very friendly. Nice looking traditional style pub in a pretty little village. Would recommend them putting some music on low level volume for a bit of atmosphere.

What a rubbish pub; never open during normal hours and erratic. Scowling tenants and disgusting food - they haven't worked out the microwave yet, with all the plastic in the served meal by local reported experience. Long history of inability to keep staff. Scruffy outside and in, and very unprofessional. Punch Taverns should kick them out and let the villagers get their friendly welcoming pub back, with landlords who are 'behind the bar people' rather than the opposite lazy creatures

Enjoyed a decent pint and home cooked food here today. Has always been a great country pub, but has struggled since covid, through no fault whatsoever of the excellent landlord. If you value The Great British Pub, then please visit, and keep visiting this fab pub.Use it or lose it!

Arrived at the pub to be met by extremely friendly staff. We had a drink first from a good selection of real ales, then asked for the menu. A good selection of food on offer, my partner is a vegetarian and there was plenty for her to choose from. I had the Wootton Welly pie, which the landlord told us the history of. When the food arrived, the chef asked us if we required anything else. The staff were so attentive it was a pleasure to eat there. There was a lovely log burner knocking out some heat on a cold day. We were planning on having a dessert but to be honest we were both full from the main course. We were also given a booklet listing future events and acts that were coming to the pub. Would we go again, yes definitely a nice good old country pub.

I did not know what to from this village pub as i drive past often and it is either always closed or looks to be nobody inside. Have often tried to check out the facebook page but this is not public and is one that has to be added as a friend - feel like this is odd. Finally managed to get for a meal and drink with husband when the pub was actually open. Who I assume to have been the Landlady (short dark hair) was extremely miserable and was not pleasant one bit which put me off immediately. She really needs to learn to be more warm and friendly if she wants to welcome future custom. The Landlord seemed nice and polite and Lady behind bar (I think her hame was Karen) was really lovely. A couple of older customers who I assumed are regulars, give us dagger eyes as we sat briefly at the bar which made us feel further unwelcomed. Meal was absolutely bang average; nothing special at all and was disappointed considering there seems to be good reviews. Prices were ok but have had much better elsewhere for less for example at the sloop in barton. I know this is a traditional pub which is what we like, but it feels extremely dated and quite shabby. Furniture was very mis matching - dark wood tables, covered traditional pub seats and a dark patterned carpet and then lime green chairs at the bar - a bit more decorative taste needed!!! The fire was lovely and a welcomed addition to the pub. The village itself is beautiful and the pub overlooks a stunning village pond filled with ducks. The only reason I am not rating this any lower is because the bar lady was so kind. If it was down to the land lady, regulars and food this would be 2 stars.

My very first visit was last Friday and even though Its over the bridge I hope to visit it again soon. Very friendly staff and the villagers. Great inexpensive food cooked from scratch definitely not precooked. I ordered the curry which was fabulous. I was asked what curry and what meat and a huge plate arrived. Great place to visit summer and winter. Give it a try you will not be sorry. They have their own newspaper detailing all the things going on present and the future, ie: alternative Miss Wooten, sounds hilarious.
