Marks and Spencer is a multinational British retail company headquartered in the City of Westminster. It specializes in the sales of clothes, luxury food products, home and office furnishing and general home products. It was founded by Michael Marks and Thomas Spencer in 1884, and it has since grown into a household name in the retail industry.
M&S, as they are popularly called has 852 stores across the United Kingdom and several more international branches in over 40 nations of the world. In 1998, M&S became the first British retailer to make a pre-tax turnover of over £1 billion, but in recent years, some factors fast led to the franchise losing about 2/3 of its value.
