When it comes to chicken, there are very few locations people in the UK prefer to go than Nando's. Although based around Portuguese cuisine, it was founded in South Africa in 1987 and opened its first outlet in the UK just five years later. Originally in London, the name eventually spread and the amount of branches steadily increased. After the owner's son took over, they gradually moved away from takeaway and started to focus on providing a dining experience.
Nowadays, Nando's has 280 outlets across the UK and Ireland with over 8,000 employees. Of these outlets, it is thought that 60 are halal catering to the diversity we see in the country today. In addition to good food, the company is also known for treating employees well and has won many employer awards including 'Best Place to Work' from the Sunday Times in 2010.
