Short for National Westminster Bank, NatWest formed in 1968 and is therefore just one year short of celebrating fifty years in the industry. However, it was originally formed as a merger between two older companies dating back to the 1830s. At the turn of the millennium, they actually joined the Royal Bank of Scotland and are now part of this group.
In the UK, NatWest currently has nearly 1,000 branches with three and a half times as many ATMs. In addition to this, they recently introduced a 24-hour telephone line as well as being available online via their website or even an application for smartphones. According to a recent report, NatWest now has over eight million customers which makes it one of the 'Big Four'. Finally, they have an array of services for both personal customers as well as businesses.
