Pret A Manger Opening Their Doors in Worcester High Street

The popular sandwich franchise has announced their plans to open a new store in Worcester High Street this Summer and will be creating 20 new jobs in doing so.

Pret A Manger's new sandwich shop will be filling the formerly owned Santander unit located on the corner of the High Street. The unit will be redeveloped to better suit the sandwich shop and will include a seating area that spans two floors.

Prior to being a Santander location, the building was developed for the Central Coffee Tavern with an upstairs office area. Soon after, it was transformed to become the Central Temperance Hotel and Restaurant, and finally the Cadena Cafe.

Anthony Bullen, the Pret A Manger operations manager, stated, "This is the first time that we've opened an establishment in Worcester and we're excited to see how this expansion works out."

"For the time being, we are still on the search for a reliable and hardworking staff team before we open our doors.", he continued.

The sandwich shop is known for their freshly made sandwiches, soups, salads, and wraps, all of which are made fresh each day.

Pret A Manger is constantly looking for new and innovative ways to eliminate the issue of homelessness in the UK and with this in mind, they have announced their plans to donate any food waste at the end of each workday.

In the past year, Pret A Manger have donated as many as 3 million meals to homeless causes across the UK.

The sandwich brand first opened their doors back in 1986 in London and since then, they have opened over 450 stores, most of which are located in the UK.

Following on from their homelessness scheme, they do not publish "sell-by" dates on the foods that they sell. Instead, all of their unsold food goes towards different charities.

More details regarding this Pret A Manger expansion will be available in September.
