Costa Coffee recently announced that they intend to open a new branch in Derbyshire.
Prior to Christmas, the Amber Valley Borough Council accepted Costa Coffee's application to re-develop the unit which was previously occupied by Yorkshire Bank into a Costa Coffee. The store will be located in Ripley, on Oxford Street.
The application which was submitted also included plans to expand the property itself, design a new front area, and to include Costa Coffee branding on the property. The initial launch of the business will only provide customers with access to the ground floor although Costa Coffee stated that they hope to have the rest of the three-story building furnished and ready by May. This would allow customers to fill up the building and enjoy the Summer weather.
Back in 2014, Yorkshire Bank announced their plans to close their Oxford Branch along with several other bank closures. Costa Coffee have seized the opportunity of these unoccupied units and have been expanding across the UK for the past few years.
Just last week, it was announced that Costa Coffee are looking to open yet another coffee shop at the Heanor Retail Park. They have submitted the application for these plans already and intend to occupy a pod unit within the car park of the retail park. This coffee shop will create 3 full-time jobs as well as 5 part-time jobs.
With constant expansions similar to these two, Costa Coffee are clearly looking for every opportunity to expand.
