Students of Christ Church will soon be able to purchase all of their groceries from Sainsbury's - a store which is to be opened just below the newly built student accommodation in Queen's Street.
The student accommodation (which has been praised as one of the best) will soon be joined by a Sainsbury's store. The accommodation building is being built by Reef Estates (a developer giant) and is to include several kitchens, a gym, a basement, and as many as 130 bedrooms. To top it off, students can get all of their groceries from the store below their living quarters.
Christ Church has revealed that while they'll be using most of the rooms to accommodate their own students, they will possibly be renting out 54 of the rooms to other local colleges.
Three years ago, discussions for this student accommodation begun and after two long years of discussions and planning submissions, Reef Estates got to work just a year ago.
Jacob Russell, the head designer of Reef Estates, has said, "This building is one of the best student accommodation buildings that I've ever seen, I'm glad that I've had the chance to be a part of this innovative project"
"Students of Christ Church will have one of the best living arrangements possible, will be in the centre of one of the world's greatest cities, and will be within walking distance of the college", Jacob continued.
Colin Cook, the local Labour councillor for the area, stated, "This accommodation block is a fantastic addition to Queen Street and is in a prime location for local students"
The new development is set to finish on the 21st of August and Sainsbury's is not far behind (opening towards the end of the month).
It is expected that students can expect to move into this new accommodation block by the 29th of September.
With this development wrapping up quickly, other developments in the city centre aren't far behind; with the Westgate Shopping Centre set to open sometime at the end of October.
