Late last year we saw Co-op announce their plans to open a new location on Station Road in Sutton on Sea. The chosen location was previously a petrol station as well as a car wash.
The Co-operative previously announced that their new Sutton on Sea store would be opened later this year, although recently revealed that they wouldn't be opening the £600,000 project until 2018 as a result of construction complications.
Back in November of 2016, Co-op announced that they had started construction and that they intended on opening their new store in 2017. However, according to the regional acquisitions manager of the Co-op, Paresh Pancholi, the new store will be opening its doors in February of 2018 instead.
"At the time of our official announcement we had very high hopes that it would be open at some point in 2017.", Paresh Pancholi told us.
He went on to say, "However, as much as we would have liked to have the project finished in time, there has been some construction delays that we didn't anticipate and we are now hopeful that it will be open at some point in February of 2018."
Paresh added, "We are looking forward to finishing this project and it's an honour that the local communities have accepted us with open arms. We are delighted to offer them a wide range of food in a well-designed and easy-to-navigate store!"
The new Co-op will bring between 15 and 20 jobs to the area and is located right in the middle of Sutton on Sea. There will also be a bakery in the store as well as meal deals, fresh fruit and vegetables, and much more.
