Well thought out for guests arriving; I loved the friendly signs directing us where to queue for drinks or where to go for food. Nicely furnished and busy. Tasty Sunday lunch, all served in a big pile on your plate so be warned if you?re not so keen on it all being mixed up! Good portion size and plenty of variety. Yorkshire puddings were amazing!! Service was quite bizarre. 15 minutes seated before even being spoken to or acknowledged, then we ordered drinks which arrived fairly quickly and the food literally 5 minutes later. One person on the large and busy table next to us went to find a waitress 3 times to ask for drinks and desert menus, while the waitresses were cleaning tables. The waitresses were all extremely pleasant, but need a bit of guidance to focus on the actual customers. I couldn?t taste any lemon in the Lemon meringue pie; maybe that?s just me, but my partner loved his huge sticky toffee pudding. £62 for 2 courses for 2 people, with 1 soft drink and 1 glass of wine which I think was reasonable.

Thoroughly enjoyed our 3 night stay with our dog recently. Location was perfect with a short walk to the sea front and in the middle of town Our room was on the small side but very comfortable, clean and well equipped. Food was excellent every time. Breakfast offered a huge choice and was always well presented and hot. The dog enjoyed his sausage too. We ate dinner one evening and again had no complaints at all. The only small challenge was parking with insufficient spaces for the number of rooms and vehicles but it didn't have a big impact for us. Would we return if back in Cromer - absolutely Yes!

We were recommended the Red Lion by locals and friends. The restaurant and hotel is dog friendly which is a huge bonus. We were seated in the main inside part and not a window seat with beach views. The staff were very attentive and were more than happy to answer, get or recommend food. The fish and chips were second to none and alot better than the local fish and chips establishments recommended on trip advised. Steak was cooked perfectly and as ordered. The only feedback/concern we have is as a vegetarian/pescatarian (one of our party) the options are VERY limited. I would recommend this restaurant for non veggie/vegan eaters. As a vegetarian I wouldn?t recommend this restaurant due to the small, limited selection.

2-night stay at The Red Lion Hotel (TRLH) Cromer. We stayed during the Cromer Carnival week, commencing 14th 18th August 2023 Arrived 15:00hrs on 16th August, whistle parking in the only available parking space, were met by a group of 5-6 drunken Yobs, who had spilled into carpark area from the outdoor beer garden. They?re obnoxious rude behaviour, shouting aggressively obscenities, towards us because they had to move 3 feet out of the parking bay. Furthermore, someone from the mob we believe had caused some damage to our VW golf, Substantial damage to NSFW, they were probably on a day pub crawl, due to the Cromer Carnival family fun Day. So wasn?t the best start to our 2-day break. After talking to the local Bobby (PC) who apparently liaised with most of the Cromer hotels, he suggested asking TRLH for any CCTV footage covering the said car park. If there were any CCTV footage he would investigate and contact us accordingly. Serval emails sent and still waiting for a response from TRLH. Nothing to date 11.9.2023 On a brighter note, our stay was pleasant, room 18 was spacious & comfortable, but given it backs on to a side road (Brook St) a little noisy in late evening, with families are returning to their accommodation with the occasional screams of excitement from children, but we slept well on a Comfortable double bed. Good, tasty food, we had an evening dinner, large F&C extra £17:50pp plus 10% surcharge. Although the self-service cold breakfast choice is no longer an option, which has slightly changed since we last stayed back in 2021 its all-waitress service now, so choices are limited on the breakfast menu. In fairness to TRLH given cost and food waste was probably one of the main reasons self-services were no longer available. There was a fire alarm activation on 17th Thursday afternoon around 17:00hrs most of the Hotel guests had assembled in the designated area in the back car park. All be it a false alarm, it was an activation in staff accommodation area. However, there were no responsible or allocated members of the hotel staff with a fire check list checking guests' names and room numbers, but surprisingly members of the public were still being served drinks in the public bar area. However, we still would recommend checking in to TRLH if you are looking for good food, a comfortable room and pleasant staff. Finally, we did submit a review on secure hotel.com, had no response from website or TRLH

Excellent food and service albeit beware the racy pricing and service charge and priority given to canine mal odour and behaviour

Lovely food and friendly staff - advertised as dog friendly, which was the main reason we went there, and it didn?t disappoint.

We ate at the Red Lion hotel last year and were very impressed. The fillet steak was first class. I would have described it as fine dining. Our return this year was much anticipated, but sadly very disappointing. A change in chef has led to a very average menu. What was fine dining is now very mediocre pub grub.

We called in for lunch while having a family day out in Cromer. To dine was six adults, a 3.5 year old and a working cocker spaniel. The maître d' was very pleasant and gave us the choice of seats. Once seated waiting staff took drinks orders and served water for the table. We skipped starters and went straight into mains to accommodate our little girl. We ordered 3x Catch of the day 2x Sea Bass , 1 x Arctic Char, 1x Crab Sandwich, 1 x Chicken pasta supreme. Quite a significant amount of time passed be we received our mains, maybe some where in the region of 30 - 45 mins. Enough to enjoy two drink and a polite apology from the service staff. Fortunately it did not dampen thing and because we were all talking we sort of let it go by us but was noted. To quote, what you have to remember when cooking fish is, 15 seconds in a pan can be a life time. But on a positive side when the dishes arrived to the tables the were all perfectly prepared and presented with care and attention. I had the Sea Bass, the seasoning was the perfect level of salt and the vegetables was cooked deliciously. I have to say the only thing that stopped us from ordering dessert was we ran out of time and needed to be somewhere. But all in all I felt the level of cooking was excellent and detail was excellent. Well done all at the Red lion. I look forward to eating with you again soon.

Enjoyed a really tasty, well presented and served lunch yesterday, My husband had the fish, chips & mushy peas, I had the cod nori and we both had desserts. His meal was so much better than the same poor offering he?d had in an establishment near Holt last week and for a similar price. We would really recommend the Red Lion and look forward to returning.

We ate here a few weeks ago during a wet weekend camping. It was very good so returned today after a walk. The staff are friendly and the restaurant is very comfortable. I had a tomato & mozzarella sandwich. Doesn't sound much, but it's packed full with delicious ingredients, with a lovely side salad, excellent fries & coleslaw. My husband had fish & chips. He commented on the mintiness of the mushy peas, and having sampled one of his chips that was excellent too. Neither of us could finish, the portions are large, and very satisfying. It's also nice to be able to take our dog into the restaurant.
