Wonderful hotel. There are no facilities like a bar or anything at the hotel but there are loads of teas, coffees, milk, biscuits, crisps etc in what used to be the old bar area, so you would not go hungry. Breakfast is served at the Lifeboat and was amazing. There was a lovely restaurant round the corner called the Orange Tree, where the good was lovely too.Beds were comfy and the bathroom was very clean. We had the smallest room but the other rooms were much larger. We didn't mind as we took the last available room.

The room was spotless and bed was very comfy. There was a decent sized bath with very hot water. There's no staff onsite, but when we needed more showergel etc someone arrived within 5 minutes of requesting it. Only negative is that there's no fridge in the rooms. There is one downstairs with free milk and water in it but would be nice to have a fridge in the room to cool my own drinks.

We were given the wrong address, the place we were told about does not exist. We think it's expensive for what we have, the rooms are mile from the hotel so it's a drive for the restaurant....Will not be booking here again

Nice room, good location for walking and not far from a couple of good eating spots. Room needed a bit of maintenance (window handle hanging off).

Am afraid despite renovations the bathroom smelled of fungus. The double bed had only one bedside table so none for me to even perch my glasses on. For this priced room, expected more. We had been warned re need to walk/ drive to breakfast at nearby hotel. Landed up waiting 45 mins for cooked breakfast as the order had been forgotten. Ate dinner there the night before which was really poor. So am afraid 2 is generous. Staff were friendly and apologetic for poor service. But would not stay there again. Oh and milk provided in the fridge was off!

I booked the Chequers because we had stayed previously. It was a PUB. I only found out the day before that we needed to go to the Lifeboat to pick up the keys, too late to cancel. I also got an e mail from the Lifeboat saying it was room only. When I called reception at the Lifeboat I was advised it was bed breakfast, breakfast was at the Lifeboat. Only a five minute walk from the Chequers, in fact five minute car ride. I also mentioned to the receptionist that I did not see that the pub had gone to room only, she said it would be at the bottom of the Booking.com information. Surely this should be noted at the top, not the bottom. I was also advised a porter was on hand at the Lifeboat 24hours a day in emergency and we could ring. My mobile was on emergency calls only. So in an emergency I would have to run around to the Lifeboat. Too LATE then. They should have a phone on the bar that only connects to the Lifeboat in case of emergency. BEWARE this is no longer a PUB. I will not stop at the Chequers again.

A warm and inviting room awaited us on our arrival. The facilities in our room (Alder) were great, from the bath and shower to the comfortable bed, complimentary drinks, snacks, reading materials and games to the friendly welcome at reception (which was located at the sister hotel The Lifeboat Inn). We had a brilliant stay and would consider staying again. One thing to note would be the low ceiling in the room but it was fine for a night or two. The village is lovely and picturesque. It was very easy to get to the beautiful RSPB Titchwell Marsh.

So very disappointed in this new restaurant.Decided to pay it a visit but that's the last time I'll be there.Unless you love fish the menu is mostly fish and some if the meat dishes were unavailable at 6pm on a Friday night.Steajs were nothing to get excited about.exit door blocked by large plant pot.we finished meal (may I point out not once during meal did the manager approach our table to see if everything was ok)he was busy chatting with staff members not checking on customers while it was quiet We ordered a bailys coffee and an Irish coffee a child could have made a better job if them .Now the icing on the cake the bill we were charged 16 euro fir each coffee omg total shame on you that's totally over charging.I was totally discussed to see this.wouldnt recommend this place to anyone.do your homework there are so many lovely restaurants in this area that will make you feel so welcome and won't rip you off

We booked bed, breakfast and dinner in advance. However, the management changed hands and there was no dinner service at the Chequers. We had to constantly chase to find out what was going on with the booking. We and others were not told that, contrary to their email communications, check in had moved to the other end of the village which led to us hanging around in the cold outside the deserted building. When we did finally get the keys the room was fine but we still had to beg for things like ordinary tea bags. They moved our dinner reservation to a cheaper pub with only two days notice, yet they bizarrely refused to honour our dinner prepayment without a fight. Really disappointing service from a business that is clearly struggling. As things stand we would not stay again.

We stopped in for dinner on a trip to Thornham for some steak and lobster. Admittedly, I can't fault them on the lobster, it was nicely cooked and the truffle fries were very pleasant. The meal was let down severely by the rib eye. The price point and description implied to us that we were going to receive a really quality bit of steak. I was immediately suspicious when it arrived due to having little to no browning - the majority of the exterior was grey. The cut itself was of very poor quality - gristly and not at all what I expect from a dry aged rib eye. In particular I couldn't believe that it wasn't seasoned - no salt nor pepper. The steak was bland, poorly cooked.and a cheap cut. Very disappointing for the price.

Considering Hunstanton is such a dump I was surprised how lovely the village of Thornham was. This hotel was excellent, rooms clean and well presented and more interesting than most boring hotel rooms. The evening meal was 5 star, not cheap but well worth it in my opinion, and the breakfast was great. I can?t fault the place.
