This is a lovely quiet hotel with excellent staff, clean rooms and very good food at a fair price. The hotel sits alongside a national trust park full of great walks.

Lunch: menu said a jus. Came with a usual roast's gravey that was served with every other roast that day. Fine bean parcel, wrapped in bacon, was cremated. Cutting into the cockerel meat found so under cooked that blood was present. Otherwise meal acceptable. Advised waitress, nothing. Advised at payment desk, bill we paid regardless, still no comment. Lovely location: general service ok: catering standard, monitoring and observation response - needs attention and correction. Let us know when you!ve addressed issues.Food & drinks: See above

Took my 91 year old Mum out for lunch today at the Dales. The whole experience was outstanding!!Robin & James you were both exceptional and would not have been out of place in a luxury Swiss 5* Hotel. The food was excellent as it is always. What made it even more special was that you were at a quiet period between Christmas & New Year...many places might of become complacent because of this..........but not you!! :-))Very much appreciated, we will be back on my mother's 92nd birthday, you were all absolutely amazing and an absolute credit to The Dales and Mackenzie Hotels as a whole!!Grateful thanks,PeterNoteworthy details: Outstanding throughout.Staff were exceptional!!

My husband and I (and two friends visiting from Scotland) ate here last night as part of Norfolk's Restaurant Week. We were caught up in a traffic grid lock in Norwich and arrived an hour after our table booking time. It proved to be no problem for the staff, who were very attentive, and we had a delicious meal, beautifully presented and we were under no pressure to vacate our table. Altogether a pleasurable experience. Thank you to all at The Dales.Food & drinks: Already stated above.

This is a review of the restaurant only, and only for lunch. The inn's setting is absolutely lovely. On a warm sunny day the tables on the expansive lawn are really inviting. The food at lunch on the day we visited, however, was ordinary. Smoked salmon sandwich came on a thick, dry bun with a tiny bit of salmon. Chips were nice. Caesar salad with chicken featured only 3 or 4 very thinly sliced strips of chicken and a bit of mayo for the dressing. Bacon was nice, however. Best thing about lunch was the wine list. Surprising variety by the glass and a generous pour. Service was really outstanding and probably saved the day. Very dog friendly both inside and outside. We'll return for the wine, the sun and the lawn but would be hard pressed to dine again.

The Dales Hotel was, apart from the size of the room, very good. The hotel was very clean, with attentive and friendly staff. The food, both breakfast and dinner, were well cooked and plentiful with a different menu for each of the days we were there. The hotel is positioned a walk away from Sheringham and the beach and, if you cut through Sheringham Park via the hotel, a very pleasant walk. The room size was, for the price, a tad disappointing and the fabric of the room, in need of a bit of TLC. Over all a nice country house hotel worth a visit.

Stopped off for lunch after a walk in Sheringham Park. The staff are incredible and the food is absolutely amazing - even the butter tasted like it was home-made. Superb value for money. It's a little bit off the beaten track, but definitely worth the effort.

We have just returned from having dinner here tonight. Where to beginning. The dinning room is a very pleasant and attractive room. when ordering we were told that the crab and lobster were not on the menu. This was disappointing as we were hoping to have some crab however this might have been fortune. We order 2 portions of the plaice gojouns , one was fine the other had no fish in it!we also had the ham hock which was satisfactory and the chicken mousse was good. We then waited for our main courses. Two of which arrived 5 minutes before the other two. The beef was ok but where were the vegetables? The lamb was tough and came with one small piece of tender stem broccoli hidden under the potatoes. The sea bass was ok. Now to the finale!we ordered 2 portions of the toffee cheesecake and toffee ice cream and 2 portions of cheese and biscuits. The waitress was embarrassed when she delivered it and said this is supposed to be a cheesecake but if you don?t want it I will take it away?? I have to say that in all my years of critiquing food I have never seen anything thing like this! Possibly if it was served as a deconstructed pudding they might have got away with it.However when a small number of biscuits crumbs was topped with a a runny creamy mess with a dollop of toffee sauce on it.It tasted very gloopy and really unpleasant. It was inedible and sent back to the kitchen, We decided not to risk anything else.We did hear the waitress say to the next table that it was no longer available and a sticky toffee pudding was offered instead. The cheese and biscuits were ok.. They didn?t charge for the desserts or one of the goujons. However we still thought that it was a very expensive meal for what we had.We shall not be returning.
