I went in and was dressed a little scruffy (albeit in a Barbour), last night. The man at the till held a woman in conversation and ignored me for quite some time. The woman gestured to me in order that the man served me. He was clearly unhappy about having to cut his conversation short. I needed gas and electric on a card, as I?m currently renting and the property is metered. The man started talking very loudly in order to purposefully draw others? attention to me. I was mortified. I asked was there anyone else to help serve the rest of the queue behind me - he again at volume said no and started laughing with the chap behind me. He then kept almost shouting about my purchase. This is my fist insight into how people less fortunate are treated. I was appalled. What he couldn?t see on the surface is that I have 3 degrees (2 higher) and am a loving mum.He judged me on my appearance and purchase, coupled with the irritation of having to stop his chat to serve me.I then tried to feed this back to the Co-Op and whilst I?m a fan of digitisation, I realised the customer feedback mechanisms are not inclusive and prejudice against the less well off, in access terms too. Also the level of personal data one has to provide to make a complaint, is disgraceful.Shame on the man who served me and the coop - neither has lived up to brand promise.

* During pandemic and compulsory mask wearing*Lady working behind the counter (not wearing mask) chatting to 2 young adults paying for their shopping, both with masks under their chins, being generally loud and wanting to chat to the manager. The manager came over and did not tell the customers to wear their masks. As I approached the till, I suggested that the lady behind the counter (not wearing mask) should ask the customers to wear their masks. Her reply was to correct me and say that they were wearing them but just under their chins. I explained that they don?t work if they are not worn over the mouth and nose. Her response was that it doesn?t matter because the shop was closing soon anyway.2145 on 21/5/21.

Surprisingly wide range of choice across all areas. Friendly helpful staff. Really good value and the coop card is a good additional way of saving as well as helping the community.

As ever, a very pleasant experience whilst shopping today. The staff are always very friendly and helpful - nothing is too much trouble. They have a good range of Fairtrade products, including wine and chocolate, and their wonderful selection of freshly-baked bread and pastries are well worth a special trip, (although you need to get in early to avoid disappointment).
(I am bewildered by the comments of the previous reviewer...)

A rather unfortunate experience with the female manager 2 days ago over a simple refund for a book of 6 1st class stamps. She treated both me and the man on the till with such contempt I have decided not to shop there again. I am treated with respect in nearby Sainsburys and M&S.
