Ok so let me say first that the cottages are stunning. Well furnished, comfy and everything you need. Great local shop and chippy. Why only "Average" then? It was the customer service that let them down. In the cottage was a very detailed "rule book". One of the many statements was that the heating was always on and you could adjust it with the thermostat. It went on to say that on no account must you touch the boiler. By early evening it was getting cold. It was noticeable that even when adjusting the thermostat that the heating was not coming on. A quick look at the boiler confirmed that it had definitely been turned off. Easy to fix as to turn it on was obvious. However wanting to stick to the rules I phoned the Copper Horse pub ( as instructed) and was told someone would be there in 5 minutes. 45 minutes later no-one had come. I phoned many times and got no reply. I was on the verge of giving up and having to go round when finally someone answered . I asked why no-one had come and they said the pub had got busy and someone would come whenever they could. I replied that this was not good enough. I had my 85 year old mother with me and she was cold. I stated that unless someone came immediately I would have no choice but to "break the rules" and turn the boiler on myself. This seemed to have the desired effect as someone came around within 5 minutes and after a bit of faffing (and him phoning someone else) he said he "thought" it was ok. I also mentioned that one of the bedrooms had a remote missing to which I was told that we weren't the only cottage that had a missing remote from one of the rooms...?! I note from other reviews too that there had been noise from bands playing at the Mayfield pub. We were lucky as it was Thursday and no acts weer on but it was easy to see why this would be the case as two of our bedrooms overlooked the back of the pub. Seeing as they say the Mayfield is their "sister hotel" it seems odd that in accommodation that suits families with young children this would be allowed to go on. If you are thinking of booking here on a Friday or Saturday it might be worth checking if there are any bands on at the Mayfield first. So in summary a beautiful cottage but a few things to be wary of.

The Copper Horse Cottages are just off the high street in Seamer and very close to Scarborough. There is a row of five semi detached cottages and a detached one which is the one we were in. They are all independently named. The property is double fronted and when you enter you see a spacious living room to the left, an extremely well equipped kitchen and downstairs toilet to the right and central stairs leading up to two double bedrooms and a shower room. The furniture is all of very high spec with beautiful pictures and ornaments. The living room has a table and four chairs, settee, two leather chairs, small tables and sideboard, TV on the wall and a gas fire. There is doors leading to an outside courtyard with garden furniture and well kept planters. The kitchen is highly equipped and lacks nothing at all Upstairs has two bedrooms, each has two beds attached to each other which can be split into two singles. Catering for four people in total. I must stress the beds are as everything very good quality but very firm which will not suit everyone. Both rooms are decorated beautifully, TV In each and dressing gowns are provided. The shower room is so well organised, however, the one piece of advice would be to take a shower mat for safety purposes as the floor of the shower is very smooth and slippy. Outside there is a small car parking area, however, as an overspill you can park a few yards along the high street in the Car Park of the Copper Horse Restaurant which belongs to the same owners, and if you eat there you will get a 10% reduction off your food bill. 10/10 for cleanliness. Absolutely gleaming.

We stayed in Adelphi Lodge for a week and absolutely loved it. The kids had their own rooms, each with a smart TV so they were delighted. The main bedroom was very comfortable, and robes were provided in each room which was a lovely extra touch. Location was excellent, easy to get to Park and Ride into Scarborough. We also had a very nice Sunday roast at the Copper Horse pub. Highly recommended!

Just returned from a lovely family holiday at the Aldwych cottage part of The Copper Horse cottages. The space is ideal, suited us well. Great to have smart tvs in all the rooms, all the appliances and extra equipment you'd need. However, we did feel that the cleanliness of the property was lacking. The living room floor needed hoovered as soon as we arrived, cobwebs in the window frames and by the kitchen door, the chrome towel rails in the bathrooms were dusty, water marks on the glass shelves and the shower screen didn't appear to have been cleaned. This may not seem much to some but we expected a better standard especially with covid. A few other things to mention, all the wallpaper was coming away from the wall in the living room, we couldn't get the heating to work (not that it was cold, but to dry clothes after getting caught in a downpour), downstairs toilet seat wasn't fitted correctly, so you sat on the pan, and there was no hook for the retractable washing line. The live music from the Mayfield Pub went on til after 11.30pm on Friday night, extremely loud so worth considering if you've small children. This may seem picky and most of these could be easily sorted with a bit more attention to detail. Overall an ideal location and a great property, just lacking in attention to detail that would make it a true 5 star property.

For the theatrically minded, this is the place to stay. The accommodation is just divine darling ( just a little joke), but that said it is really luxurious and everything is thought out to the last detail, although I say everything , I would have to say the frying pan was too small for a 4 person breakfast.

What a wonderful place to stay. Beautifully furnished and stocked with everything you could possibly need. Great location with two pubs, mini market shop and local fish and chips. We took our dog, fully enclosed garden. Booked direct with them and that way you can choose your cottage. Would thoroughly recommend.

The only fault I had was I was given the key at the mayfield hotel by a rude manager. The cottage was lovely and had everything you needed for your stay. It?s situated near all the coastal routes which is ideal

The cottages are fantastic well equipped modern contemporary decor comfortable beds great shower well situated near a shop in between the owners two businesses theres also a great fish and chip shop in the village why only 3 stars well on 2nd night we were treated to our neighbours having a party on that went on until 2am unlucky for us? Well on our 3rd night we had the local youths right outside our back gate revving engines and making a racket were we unlucky I don't know such a shame as the accommodation is 5 star but our experience of the location is it very noisy and not condusive to a quite relaxing break.
