Sunday lunch out was completely ruined.Took nearly an hour, serving others that arrived after. No coffee or tea. No starters. No desserts. We weren?t given a menu? told it was just beef, turkey, lamb. Ordered lamb and NO MINT SAUCE which is bizzare. Told they were trying something new by offering horseradish! Absolutely spoiled our dinner as that is a lamb dinner tradition!Carrots were rock hard! We all loved carrots but partially cooked would have been nice.Meals arrived and we all sent them back as they were cold. Lots of string left on the meat! I nearly swallowed a long piece!I don?t think the owner took our complaint seriously as we heard others complaining about carrots and no sauce. With the Bluebell next door they should be on top on their game.Next Sunday lunch we will all be eating at the Bluebell and giving this place a miss.Only being open for 2 weeks is no excuse- sorry it spoiled our day and can?t recommend it.

I never leave reviews but was so disappointed by this place. We haven't been for a long time and things have really dropped off. I should have known when I didn't have our booking confirmed that we weren't going to have a good experience. Apparently the phone lines weren't working properly and they weren't getting messages (I booked online on their website, tried calling twice and left a voicemail). How are they even running a business if the phones don't work and they're not getting bookings through from the website?? Needless to say they weren't expecting us but there were plenty of free tables available. Straight away we were told of all the dishes that weren't available (apparently ones of the chefs hadn't turned up). So we ordered accordingly only to be told that one of those choices had run out too! Service was slow and the food was average at best. We had to ask twice to see the dessert menu and then were told there was only one choice available!! The waitress tried to excuse the slow service because of the large party at the bar and being short staffed. You're a pub and it's a Saturday night, of course you're going to be busy at the bar. And if you're short staffed, why not close down the restaurant part altogether and just focus on the bar. I would've preferred to be turned away because of short staffing than to have had the sub par experience we did. This used to be a lovely country pub and restaurant. I don't know what happened but none of our family or friends will be returning or recommending it anymore.

Lovely! A great place to stay if you don't like the hustle and bustle of the nearby seaside towns. We were in Suite 1, a generous space, with a double bed, single bed and sofa, plus wardrobe, full length mirror, dressing table and chair, good sized TV, a hairdryer and a well stocked hospitality tray.2 large windows overlook the pretty beer garden, with windows opening wide (pleasant for the current heat)Carpet lovely and thick too.The ensuite is great, very clean and follows through with the cleanliness of the room.Hosts, friendly, showed us to room, explained breakfast and dining options.Pub modern/country mix, clean and bright, good selection of drinks.Had a couple of ciders outside in the sun before ordering food, Gorgeous!I ordered the pear, walnut and blue cheese pizza for my main, along with a crisp fresh side salad, packed full of crunchy peppers and red onions. Literally one of the best meals, absolutely delicious.Partner had a decent doorstep of thick gammon, with all the trimmings, great portion sizes too!We also had generous bowls of rum and raisin ice cream in our room afterwards. Went down a treat!!Beds comfy, even overlooking the beer garden, all was quiet for 10.30pm, so peaceful, can hear a pin drop!Very accommodating with an early breakfast too, a big full English! Partner has huge appetite so ordered extra, was not a problem.Oh and only those water lovers out there will understand this, but the iced water was great. I'm not normally a tap water person, but this stuff was great. (If you know, you know)Thank you sooo much.Would highly recommend ??

At 48 hours notice The Star fed and watered 16 of us from a varied menu. I didn?t hear anything but positive comments from anyone. My own choice of red pepper and tomato soup followed by steak and ale pie was delicious. Many thanks.

Are here as part of a group of 10. Service was great and the food was prompt eve though we were a large group. Lovely atmosphere in the pub. Seemed like it was a good mixture of regulars and non regulars. Will definitely come back here again.

Beautiful place, beautiful village. Great staff. The suite was more than ample. Nice and modern had everything you needed. Quite modern. Couldn?t argue for the money. Very clean. Will definitely stay again. The only downsides, there flooring quite creaky and few bangs from the toilet and kitchen from downstairs. Apart from that. Fantastic experience. Shame it was in monsoon season.

Stayed here for a couple of nights this month as we were visiting Flamingoland with our children for half term. The location is great as it?s also close to the seaside and not far from York and Beverley. The rooms are lovely with so much space for families. Not just your standard family room with a double bed and a pull out bed like most. The pub was decorated for halloween which the children thought was great. Charlie was very welcoming and the locals in the pub were super friendly too. I?d definitely stay here again if we were back in the area.
