A good choice of food when away and self catering however they are a complete self profiteering supermarket overcharging on many basic items. Nescafé coffee at £9.95 and one tin of beans £1.70, highly overpriced! They also had hundreds of fresh items going out of date reduced and there is no surprise there given most will not pay their inflated prices. UPDATE, if you are looking to go shopping in Whitby, visit Heron's Foods nearby as their Nescafe is £6.00 and many other more reasonably priced products.

I went to this Co-Op to buy some ingredients to cook some dinner for me and my friends. 3 of us are 18 (myself included) and 2 are 17. Separately to everyone else I tried to buy a bottle of alcohol and the cashier lady understandably asked for my ID when I provided her with this ID she asked to see the ID of all of my friends. As i said 2 of them are 17 which we mentioned to her at which point she said she cannot serve me as I was there with under 18?s!! This is ridiculous. If a child went to the shop with their parents and one of their parents tried to buy alcohol would they ID the child?! No they would not. The woman then reported me to security saying if I came back in trying to buy alcohol not to accept my ID. My friends are old enough to drink and I am old enough to buy alcohol. What happened to being cooperative?

Just as you'd expect from a decent size Co-op. Very good deli and cheese section. Decent stock levels and wide selection of products including more local choices. Clean, tidy and no queues at check out at 13.00 on a Wednesday. Got what we needed without any fuss. Excellent.

We went snack shopping in the Co-op whilst visiting Whitby for the day and unfortunately I didn?t check for the name of the lady staff member who was serving at the tills on that Sunday afternoon. I must confess that I have especially written this review to highly commend her for her kindness and empathy towards us after we had informed her that we had had an upsetting experience from a couple of staff members from the TOF shop which is within the Co-op. She was very warm and wholeheartedly showed sympathy and even said that she would inform her manager about it although they operate separately from the TOF shop. I?m gutted we didn?t get her name because she was so lovely and is an absolute treasure to your store.

Good sized store. Refund on parking fee when you pay for shopping if you present your ticket. Has a Post Office on site too

Great shop,in the middle of Whitby . Handy if your staying near buy and need food, household items. Great customer service and very clean ,tidy store.

Would give negative star if could - they know how to make money on people who live busy lives! Cost of living crisis and you have to pay to park and when you try and get the money back they won?t even let you have it!! Disgusting shame on the co-op!!!!

Vegan friendly! I could find some amazing vegan and gluten free stuff as the store is pretty large. I also got some nice things from the clothing store.
