Yorkshire Coastal Cottages - The Barn EllerbyThere is not enough seating in the lounge area for everyone to sit in at the same time. The garden is not fully secure as dogs can escape through the gate. There is quite a noisy road near the rear garden. There are two double rooms (one with a single chair bed), one twin room and a single room which is really only suitable for a child. The staircases are a nightmare for anyone with even slight mobility issues. You are unable to walk from one upstairs room to another due to beams being around waist height, if not lower. You have to go downstairs and back up again just to use the upstairs bathroom and then repeat it again to go back to your bedroom. There is only one shower for everyone to use, which is downstairs. The kitchen is spacious however, the dryer took hours to dry our clothes. The hot tub was nice but the house is not as secluded as it appears in the photos.Unfortunately, our stay was also ruined due to arriving home and being blamed for a burn mark (assume by a previous customers hair straighteners) that was on the drawers in the downstairs bedroom before we arrived. Terrible communication from Yorkshire Coastal Cottages and no call back from Lynn in the office when I complained. They charged £100 to our card for damage that was not caused by us. Obviously, their cleaner could not have done a good enough job earlier if they had not previously spotted it.We usually use Holiday Cottages for our UK bookings but thought we would try Yorkshire Coastal Cottages, we will never use Yorkshire Coastal Cottages, Sykes Cottages, or any of their sister companies again!

I would strongly advise against booking with Yorkshire Coastal Cottages and certainly will not be making any further bookings. We stayed at Ellerton, Sandsend in April 2022, and whilst YCC were very hasty to issue us the bill for a carpet clean (which I stated was not through fault of ours) they ignored all my communication outlining the issues we experienced during our stay. Build up of owners' personal mail/packages, cottage cleanliness (dead flies on arrival), poor quality locking 'system' of back door, extremely poor quality of single beds resulting in us having to overhaul our sleeping arrangements to ensure some level of comfort, draining issues in top shower to name a few. Although they requested cottage feedback (by generic email) YCC have withheld listing what feedback I provided, and have completely ignored my emails since. We holiday in Whitby three times a year, and will certainly not be using YCC again due to their lack of communication and customer care.

Loved the break. Facilities were spot on. Location is excellent. Apartment finished to a high standard and very well appointed. Plenty of places to eat and drink nearby including a lovely fish and chip shop. Lots of stairs so beware if infirm. Would stay here again.

Impossible to contact either by phone, e-mail or text. Any problems with apartment sort yourself as useless. Would never suggest any friends use them. Easier to contact E.T. we left early from our stay as broken dishwasher from arrival, unclean main bedroom. One tea towel for a week and a quarter of a toilet roll. Very bad service.

DO NOT (and I cannot stress this enough) book your holiday through this company! I'm genuinely shocked by their inappropriate behaviour. They're also actually owned by Sykes Cottages. We booked a supposedly 5* cottage in Whitby called Rooftops Cottage, paying £1100 for 2 people/one week. On arrival, what we found was a shabby and dirty cottage in bad need of a thorough clean and full update. The furniture was old and stained, there was a bizarre hole in the lounge floor and the bed had sand and stains on the fitted sheet. It was clearly a long time since the photos on the website had been taken. The bed mattress also seemed very worn and was totally unsupportive. The guest book in the property contained comments from previous disappointed customers too. We contacted Yorkshire Coastal Cottages & they were APPALLING. Simply forwarded our messages to the owner & then sent back her reply, saying BY TEXT MESSAGE AT 2.15AM to leave by 10am the next morning if we didn't like it! I was genuinely astonished by their attitude and rudeness and total lack of effort to resolve the problems. I repeatedly asked them to confirm WHEN the property had been awarded its 5* status (because in our opinion, it must have been YEARS previously) but they wouldn't answer. Truly shocking attitude and lack of customer service.

I would avoid. We have rented a house that in our opinion is simply not ready. A long list of problems and general uncleanliness. Late responses from the company as they have â??200-300 emails every dayâ?. Phone lines nearly always engaged and the feedback page â??cannot be foundâ? - the link was sent by the company. We currently have a washing machine door that wonâ??t open, a bathroom door that does not fit, and blind cords that are not attached to the wall, as the nail has come out which is dangerous for kids.

The online information exactly described the superb cottage we rented in Whitby and the staff at the company offices were first class with information and assistance. The unexpected welcome hamper was an added bonus to the comprehensively furnished cottage.

We stayed at Reighton House (The Old Vicarage) Filey, 10 adults and 5 children it was amazing, the games room was a fantastic hit with all of us, everything we needed, Kitchen well equipped even an aga, central heating was good (we were there end of January) plenty of hot water, ample parking. Church next door, I even rang the church bells! I would definitely recommend it and hopefully we will return again. The service from Fiona and Amy was excellent, my deposit was returned promptly.

Had a long weekend at Foresters House in Whitby, property was lovely and very centrally located. Welcome hamper was a really nice touch and much appreciated. Will certainly be visiting again and trying some more properties.

Stayed in Paradise Cottage, Whitby from 15th - 20th Feb 2019 and reported the wi-fi as unusable to Yorkshire Coastal Cottages on Sat 16 Feb who said they would let the owner know. The owner did not do anything and Yorkshire Coastal Cottages (Robert & Susan) did not even contact me during our stay to check whether it had been fixed during our stay. When we departed on the 20th Feb I made Yorkshire Coastal Cottages aware that the internet was still unusable. Post sale customer service was non existent so if this is important to you I would avoid using this holiday lettings company.

Collected the damage deposit 6 weeks before the stay and then failed to return it despite the accomodation informing them no deductions would be made. Initially had no response to emails or phone calls. Eventually the money was refunded 17 days after the end of our holiday. Would recommend booking directly with the property where possible
