Pretty standard food chain. Waited a wile for the chef to serve us at the carvery, although it was really quiet so I expect he'd gonr on a break.Food ok, bit cold . (Maybe end of the day ) Gravy a bit bland .needed bit more taste .maybe tad more salt .Staff seemed friendly enough . And the whole place was very cosy .Would definitely return .

Its a decent carvery, the food was pretty tasty and filling. The sides were plentiful and varied including some nice Christmas options. We were there towards the end of the usual lunch period (eating at 1.20pm) and that was evident in a lack of gravy (veggie was a good substitute though) and the meat being on the dry side. The service was great and all the staff were friendly and accommodating.Kid-friendliness: The carvery is well geared up for kids with a suitable kids option for the carvery. Our nearly 10 year old had the kids menu along with our 8 year old and was full (this is unusual for kids menus!).

Staff were very accomodating as our table was booked for 2pm but 2 family members were going to be 20 mins late due to traffic so we were able to sit in the bar and wait until they got there. We all had a carvery and it was very good. Staff were polite and friendly.

Well ??Christmas lunch, cost a lot of money, we were very disappointed.Had to wait 30 minutes for our pre-booked table. Our table was so wobbly we had to utilise some diy to keep it stable. On a positive note, the servers were lovely and friendly.Food - starter and puddings were fine. Carvery was a huge disappointment! Meat dried out and we were given the ?ends? of the roast which were even drier. The roast potatoes were so hard we could barely cut them. When we did there was an odd taste to them. The Brussel sprouts were under cooked, hard in the middle, the rest of the veg seemed sloppy. The gravy was lumpy and thick.Did we enjoy it - no.We have visited this restaurant on previous occasions and got better food, so to have this experience on Christmas Day was very disappointing. The unlimited drinks machine was broken so despite prepaying for unlimited drinks, they had to be ordered from the bar.Overall, hugely disappointing, we wouldn?t rush back, certainly not for Christmas Day.

The food was excellent,no complaints at all on that score.....However I was stood standing at the carvery waiting for the chef to carve my meat.My elderly mother luckily had gone before me as I nipped to the toilet whilst she was getting hers. She too loved the food by the way. When I was stood at the carvery waiting there were 2 or 3 girls (staff)looking over at me but they were so busy looking at their mobile phones and chatting. As I came back from the toilet I noticed that our drinks had already been poured, these weren't delivered to our table for at least 15 minutes after being poured. My lager was a little flat but still drinkable however there were at least 3 members of staff at the bar who could have brought it to the table but seems like they couldn't be bothered.Parking: 40 or 50 spaces easily

Amazing food, 5 stars service for the waitress but the chef servers need to have a better attitude so lost stars there. The waitress was very sincere and lovely. Great meal with friends.

Upon arrival we had to wait for a few minutes for a host to meet us, once we were shown to our seat I was pleased to see that they had taken note of my request to be seated by a window. We were instructed to go for our food, the queue was very long and no body was serving, we went back to our seats and waited for almost 10 minutes, waiting for the queue to start moving. We then joined the line, when we eventually reached the front the Yorkshire puddings had run out and we were told they would be out immediately.Meat portions were very good, unfortunately the vegetables were not as they were all nearly empty, we had to ask for the bowls to be refreshed which took a few minutes, Yorkshire puddings were eventually brought out with about 8 customers stood waiting with plated food.Once back at our table we were able to enjoy our food but it was a little bit cold due to the wait but thankfully the gravy did a good job of heating it up. One of the servers came up to ask how our meal was and to also apologise for the wait, (not her fault).Upon finishing we?re given just about the right amount of time before our server came and cleared our table. We were not rushed or made to feel like they needed the table and were able to sit and chat and enjoy our drinks.

Visited Hopgrove before going into York City centre to visit Santa in the afternoon, as we knew we would struggle to get somewhere to sit and have meal due to the time of year, but so glad we thought of doing this. Located just down the road from Monk Cross Park & Ride, we had already booked so was seated straight away as it did look like it was starting to get busy, but service was good, the only the small criticism is that i sorted my son out while the rest of the family got theirs and by the time i got back to the carvery the chef had gone back into the kitchen and staff was busy serving other customers there was no one for a while available to see to go in to the kitchen to tell them and by that point they was quite a big que. By the time i sat down, my family's had just about finished theirs. But saying that the carvery was lovely just hitting it right so all fresh veg been put out. Would recommend and reasonably priced for the time of year.

Great relaxed atmosphere and welcoming staff, who smile, give you eye contact, and say 'Good morning'.Excellent, eat as much as you can, breakfast. It even includes Yorkshire Pudding and Gravy, if that takes your fancy.Highly recommended, and I always look forward to my breakfast here.

Really love meal. Meat cooked just rights, I had Gammon and Lamb, friends had Pork and Beef, all said it was delicious.Still not sure why you would include Macaroni Cheese with a roast - very odd

We went for Dinner ordered drinks my husband ordered a pint of doom bar which was cloudy had sediment in the bottom of the glass after numerous attempts to change the drink was offered an alternative which the bar staff expected us to pay for. Carvery was terrible food was spilt all over the surfaces and the floor no attempt was made to clear this up. Food was cold. Atmosphere not very inviting the restaurant was not very warm despite the drop in temperature outside. All in all not a good experience.

Distracted staff.Kept waiting to be seated . Always look forward to going to the Toby at Hopgrove York. But on this occasion the staff seemed to be totally distracted. Several walked past us while we were waiting to be seated without acknowledging we were even there . When we were eventually at the carvery counter no staff appeared till quite queue had built up . He said he couldn't cut a Yorkshire pudding in half because he didn't have a knife and said it would be better if pulled in half myself. When we got back to our table no drinks had been brought to the table so I had to go to the bar and collect the glasses. The place was only about half full. The staff seemed to be very unhappy about something that was distracting them from their work. I would still go back to a Toby Carvery it's excellent value and the food is always pretty good.

The place and people where great but it needs for staff both in the bar area and the dining area. The guys there as i say did brilliantly but there is only so much 5 people can do when a place that size is busy. Top management need to sort it outParking: Loads of spaces

As a family of 8 we had the perfect visit, table was ready as soon as we arrived. Couldn?t fault the staff one bit, food was amazing as always. The only criticism been desserts took ages to come out to say they was only ice creams but over all 10/10. Thank
