Fabulous cafe, delicious food at reasonable prices, caters for all tastes and serves yummy cakes too. Staff very friendly and helpful, recommend you book a table as this place gets very busy. 5*

We pre booked a table for 9 people. We were asked if it was possible to pre order the main meals, which proved an excellent service. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. The waitresses Jacqui and Bethany were very attentive and polite. It was a very relaxed occasion and would certainly visit again.

I was visiting with a friend I hadn?t seen in a while so it was my treat staff were welcoming and we were taken through to back area in the patio. It was very pleasant but a bit dark. We ordered tea and coffee and two soups of the day which we were told was leek and potatoe which we both love. My friends tea came with an empty pot of milk which we found amusing so she had to go and ask for some which was fine. Then the soup came and we remarked it didn?t look like leek and potatoe it was a brownygreen. We both were eating it anyway then we looked at each other and said it really wasn?t very nice and couldn?t eat anymore of it as it was bland and thick and I thought rather slimy in fact it was vile. Salt and pepper did not help it. We told the waitress when she came to clear the dishes it wasn?t nice and she said she would pass that on. We didn?t hear anything else and I paid the bill just shy of £20 still hungry. I love Shires shopping village but won?t be going back to lunch there.

Good food, excellent service and they even treated me to some prosecco as it was my birthday! Above and beyond :) Would maybe be nice if all the rooms were as nicely done out but still lovely.

This is a very nice place to enjoy a coffee. The owner was so pleasant and you could tell he really cared about his customers experience at 1867.

We came for lunch with our family today and had the most amazing time. The food is delicious, homemade and exceptional quality. The cakes are 10/10 and made by a local patisserie. The service was excellent and the staff were friendly, attentive and went out of their way to ensure that all our needs were met. We will definitely be coming back and are looking forward to trying their afternoon tea.

Stopped for a walk round and a bite to eat after a long trip from the south coast. The 1867 cafe was busy and the very nice lady at the counter asked us if we would mind coming back in 20 minutes as they were currently full - which we did and were promptly seated. We were very glad as the sandwiches and cakes were of a high quality and not over priced. The staff were impeccably mannered, very polite and accommodating. In fact, the staff in all of the outlets at the Heart of the Shires centre were really nice. Everyone was so welcoming and friendly to us as visitors that it was a pleasure to be there. We will certainly pop in again in the near future.

We went for pre booked afternoon tea and it was very disappointing it was stale and very dry. We ate here the previous week and it was delicious and half the price of the afternoon tea

I booked lunch here for a 60th birthday. There were 11 of us and a new born baby. We sat in the conservatory and tables were laid out when we arrived and they'd taken into account that I said there would be a pram. They were very patient with us when ordering and had answers to all our questions regarding the food. We took our own birthday cake and all the waitresses brought it to the table singing happy birthday after our meal. Shout out to Jacqui & Claire who went above and beyond to look after us.

Have been eating at this venue for 30 years and under the new ownership it still offers good food, a very friendly welcome and service with a smile. Good menu for those with specific dietary needs and nothing is too much trouble. Thoroughly recommended and a great place to meet friends or family.

Hosted a baby shower here for a friend and couldn?t have wished for better food, service or atmosphere. We all had afternoon and despite a range of dietary requirements everyone was very happy and thoroughly enjoyed the food and drinks. Along with this I was able to arrive a little earlier to set up the table which was great. We also completely lost track of time but were not asked to leave once despite staying after closing time. Couldn?t recommend 1867 more to anyone wishing to hold a baby shower or go for afternoon tea etc. Thank you so much for the fantastic service, particularly Christina and Liv. We will be back!

Managed to accommodate us for afternoon tea with only a few hours notice...\\nThe food was really lovely, great sandwiches and scones, oodles of jam and clotted cream.\\nLoved the mini prosecco - though a non alcoholic option for the driver would be a welcome addition.\\nThe staff were very welcoming and super attentive.\\nThe setting is nice, there is plenty of parking and some nice boutique shops to look around.

My wife & I ate a summer Saturday lunch @ 1867 while we were on a browsing & buying visit to Heart of the Shires Shopping Village. The front desk & table servers were all cordial; but they seemed to be distracted by the size of the lunch crowd, and there was a sense of confusion re. order taking by the wait staff. We sat at a small table near an unused entrance to the restaurant kitchen, and it seemed small for the volume of customers (which could be one reason for the very long time between our order placement & table delivery). Beyond the service the interior dining spaces were simply & pleasantly decorated with plenty of light, and our meals were both very good (Brie & Cranberry Chicken baguette, Ploughman's Lunch - excellent Stilton & Brie cheeses) with portions suitable for a light lunch. We might have ordered something from their Fresh Cakes menu to top off our meal, but our schedule was constrained by the service delays. We would return to The 1867 for a meal if we were in the area again, but we'd avoid a weekend visit date with the hope that the service could keep up with demand.

Wonderful place to escape the rain - cosy, helpful staff nothing was too much trouble and very attentive service from Bethany and Katie. Equally on a sunny day seating is available outside. Lots to choose from on the menu and the Victoria sponge was completely worth the calories- delicious! We will be back!
