“Meeting up of a group of ten friends. We were so well looked after. The food and service was excellent. Rooms were very comfortable ( although the bed was a little hard). Free rounds of drinks on arrival and at the end of the meal were much appreciated. Breakfast was excellent. If you’ll have us we’ll probably be back next year.”

“They were fully booked and we were walk ins coming back from Hadrian's Wall. The tables were booked and the owner and staff went out of their way to find a table for 2. It is a lovely pub and upscale restaurant with amazing food. I had roasted lamb for the first time and there will never be another that will top how delicious the food was. The atmosphere is welcoming and the the pint was perfect! Brewed right there. We bought some beer and off we went on our way. I wish I would have stayed at the Inn as I know it would be a wonderful experience. Thank you to the staff for being so accommodating as we traveled all the way from Canada ?? to stop in. Thank you again.”

“We enjoyed a lovely stay in one of the lodges. It was spacious and comfortable, and we were treated to a wonderful tasting menu. With produce from the garden being woven into the meal it was a real treat, and great value. We'll be back as soon as we are able!”

“First class fish and chips. The batter was very light and crispy. The chips had a very good texture and an excellent mouth feel. Service was great and the reatraunt was spotless.”

“Reserved the Percy Room for one night. 25th wedding anniversary. Obviously not your typical hotel room. Beautifully furnished and very comfortable. Steep staircase to the bedrooms. Large drawing room with log fire. Sadly never got the chance to sit near it. Disappointed not to see it lit the next morning.would have been very welcoming. Full English breakfast just average. No coffee pot; just a cup brought to the table, asked for wholemeal toast which was not provided and was burnt into the bargain. A second request for more toast was also burnt .Never saw any fruit or cereals. Staff were always courteous and of help . Overall, a new hotel experience for us.”

“The hotel is in a great location, is beautifully presented - with quite a cosy feel - and was spotlessly clean for our stay. Room was well equipped and was spot on for a family of four with chaise longues for the children. We were slightly disappointed by the breakfast - which was fine but not at the level you might expect. Also felt very pricy for a single night.”

“Called in for a drink whilst in Bellingham, looks recently renovated. Made really welcome and as they weren't serving food gave us some local recommendations. Dog friendly would definitely call in again ??”

“Felt a bit like The Slaughtered Lamb when we came through the door, very unwelcoming, perhaps we caught them on a bad night. But unlike the Slaughtered Lamb they do food, a delicious five bean chilli that was both vegan and gluten free, which was a bit of a lifesaver.”

“My stay here was overall very nice.I was impressed even before setting foot in George Hotel. I got a phone call to inform me that the hot water was not working, they provided me with two options, I could either get a full refund and find elsewhere to stay or if I stayed I could have a free 3 course meal, a free breakfast and also got offered a glass of wine to be put into my room (I don't drink so got given some cans of coke fresh out of the fridge on my arrival!). The staff were all super welcoming and helpful.I had a single room. The room was lovely and warm and I initially felt like it had everything I could possibly need for a night of sleep. The room certainly needs a good update though. I feel like it wouldn't hurt or be too costly to update the carpets or to re-plaster the ceilings etc. The bathroom was also a little old too but it was fine. The location was lovely - my view was of the River Tyne surrounded my nature and I could see the lovely bridge to the right. The hotel is situated next to a roundabout but it was quiet enough as it is not a busy area. The breakfast was very nice and the restaurant also looks out onto the river which is a lovely peaceful setting to have breakfast at.I would certainly stay here again - the hotel seemed very popular with those exploring hadrians wall.”
