Been here before with friends who regulary attend the 4 yearly kayak regattas at the Holme Pierrpont water sport centre. It's always been good, very clean and well run and certainly a cut above the campsite at the watersport centre itself. However, we were given an odd reception this time. One of our friends was told he wasn't allowed to bring his 'commercial vehicle' on site as it was 'against the rules'. This was doubly odd as he has stayed here a dozen or more times in the past with exactly the same vehicle and no one has said a word. The receptionist did begrudgingly let him on in the end but said not to come back again with this vehicle. All it is is a van that he uses for his work during the week, and at the weekend (like many similar tradespeople) it becomes the family weekend runaround. We're not talking a big artic here, just a van, which is smaller than the majority of campervans and motor homes allowed on the site. Well, ho hum, anyway... next season we will all be upping sticks and moving the the Holme Piierpont site. Shame really, but what else can we do?

The positives are the shower and toilets are clean and well maintained. It?s a clean campsite with spacious pitch sizes. Your experience of the campsite will vary depending on where you are located. Unfortunately on this occasion we were located in a field which was noisy at night and smelly from something nearby (farm or sewage works? of some sort). The staff are good at their job and this is shown by the cleanliness/maintenance of the site. However, we found them a bit too strict and abrupt, cameras on the site made us feel watched, and a buggy cart made trips around the campsite to make sure we were behaving. I think this place would suit couples rather than families or groups.

Very well located and kept site, plenty of room between camp plots, shower and washing facilities very modern and roomy with good kitchen facilities. Shop on site with basic supplies. Cloud do with better advanced signage on approach as it's on a fast road and a tight turn into site.

Amenities for the kids are great with small play area and pool. little shop to with general supplies. Cafe onsite sells sandwiches toasties cakes cold and hot drinks. pub just a five min walk if you need a break from cooking and don't want to drive.

Visited this lovely site for 4 nights with daughter and grandchildren. We were able to have our Motorhome next to our daughters tent which was good . The site is well laid out and very green . The staff were very friendly and lovely with the children .\\nThe shower block was really good , warm , clean and massive shower cubicles . The play area was good and the pool was perfect for the little ones , although £4 an hour each person was a bit steep , I thought . The only negative was the muddy driveways , they were not all tarmac and were full of dips where massive puddles accumulated, when it rained . Not good for camping or the Motorhome. Get these sorted and it really would be an excellent site .

Have been coming for a few years , this year feel standards have dropped , toilet block dirty, pool needs updating and you pay for this !! The rules now are very strict and staff rude , the campsite nice but need to decide wether adults only or family?s as doesn?t work for both as people always moaning about kids and noise and staff seem to be against families . The nightly rate is high for what you get and the grief because you can?t relax when fun police around !!! Site seem quiet in week which is not surprising with rules and cost !!! Would NOT recommend or return now .

**5/5 ? A True Camping Gem with Immaculate Facilities!** Stayed 4/5/6 August After reading a couple of recent negative reviews of Thorton Holt Camping Park, I decided to see for myself whether the complaints were warranted. I soon worked out that it was one group of feral customers that seemed to have ruined the experience for all, leaving unfair comments on this site. My experience was a completely different one. **Booking Process:** The booking was effortless, and when I requested a quieter part of the park, I received a prompt and polite reply. They assured me of my placement in an area with other non-families while maintaining that the park is family-friendly, with some noise expected. I appreciated their strict quiet time, warden enforced, which was exactly what I needed. **Arrival:** On arrival, the greeting at the desk was exceptionally friendly and very reassuring. My partner and I were looking for a de-stress weekend, and Thorton Holt seemed just right. We were given full information that was clear and easy to follow. **The Site:** Our pitch was nice and large, and the overall site was clean with all the necessary amenities. It was wonderful to see dogs on leads and friendly people all around, complete with well-behaved and respectful children. **Standout Feature:** What truly sets Thorton Holt Camping Park apart are the toilet and shower facilities. Immaculately cleaned and maintained regularly, they are easily some of the best I've encountered in any camping site. I would especially like to shout out to the lady cleaning in the evening as her pride in the cleanliness was palpable. The showers were a delight, housed in huge cubicles, always hot, and with plenty available for the size of the site. **Conclusion:** Thorton Holt Camping Park is a prime example of a well-run camping site with a focus on customer satisfaction and cleanliness. The negative reviews couldn't be further from my personal experience. I highly recommend this camping park for anyone looking to enjoy a peaceful getaway in a well-maintained environment. Thank you, Thorton Holt, for a fantastic weekend! We will be back!

The campsite and location and excellent, however 2 of the staff were rude! My 3 year old grandson asked a woman what the horses name was and she state she was to busy, very sharp and definitely not necessary! Then the children went to look in the chicken coop, when a grumpy man told them to leave the chickens alone. My daughter explained that they were just seeing if there was any eggs when he shouted It?s my job not yours!! It?s just not right to speak to children in this manner. If this is just a job for you, irrelevant of your status, then you need different employment.Rooms: We were campingWalkability: Lots of good walksFood & drinks: Brilliant pub just across the road

A great family friendly park with something for everybody. I chose it for the pool for my 6 year old son which we used every day and really enjoyed it. Not as deep as a conventional pool allowing my son to be able to have his feet on the bottom and have his head above the water safely. Also a lovely park suitable for children of 12 yrs and under, roundabout, swings, climbing frame, rope bridges and a fireman's pole, my boy spent hours on there. Also a large grassed area for football and any other games. The people are friendly and helpful and although we never needed them, you can see them milling aroung and be reassured by the out of hours telephone contact facility should you ever need it(we didn't). A coffee shop for lovely snacks and drinks and a pub a few minutes walk away. We enjoyed it so much we extended our stay and will definately be going back.

We love coming here, we have seen the facilities evolve over the years with brand new toilet block, completely transformed old toilet block into a new reception and a great addition of a cafe. My only gripe this time is where we?re the wardens ???? Sadly the 10.30pm quite rule didn?t apply to the tenters in the field we were in I?d had enough at 12.30pm and had to bang on the tent and ask them to turn it off the whole orchard area must of heard it too. Unbelievably they were all singing Christmas songs which only heightened our annoyance. On the many times we have been wardens are very much on the ball and patrol the campsite. Sadly this ruined our last night for us.

Stayed for a stop over on way back to north Scotland from chessington. Could not fault them. Friendly helpful staff. Used swimming pool £4perperson, facilities are beautiful and clean. I wasn?t overly impressed with the £5 charge for use of family room, nor with the fact we were given a pitch at the furthest point away from playpark and facilities, seemed to be adult section, was ambundance of empty pitches near the playpark and facilities but as it was one night we didn?t ask to be moved. Possibly something for staff to consider when 1adult and 1 child bookings from now on Though. I couldn?t fault the place to be honest. Would recommend just check the park map and request where you want to be pitched it?s a large site with various sections. Pizzeria and restaurant walking distance round corner. Village with Sainsbury?s 2 miles away in car. Lovely quiet site. Clean and well maintained.

Enjoyed a church camping weekend here, quite a large site, 150+ spaces, we had a field for the group, 70 of us in tents, caravans and motorhomes. There were a number of EHU points and a fresh water tap. There was another private group in the next field to us which was smaller. Excellent toilet/shower facilities nearby, on-site shop selling basics and a café where I had a freshly baked fruit scone with clotted cream and jam, delicious. Good choice of snack food but only a few minutes walk off campsite was a great gastro pub. Lovely walks through public paths and along old railway tracks nearby. If you need to cool down/refresh, there's an indoor pool. Really lovely place, well recommended.

Nice site but got stuck next to a huge family gathering of three or so vans and tents all together. Noise horrific. Dogs continuously barking. Mess and toys all over the grass. Young kids hanging around the water tap filling annoying water gun things. Like staying in a travellers site. Would be a great site but noise, screaming out of control kids and continuous dog barking ensures that we won?t be going back.
