The place is beautiful, definitely we could have had a better experience if we were given a better table. We did ask to change tables however they said they couldn?t accommodate a better table. So they moved us to a table next to the wine area which is basically a corridor. The food was tasty however it was cold, which is a real shame as the flavours were beautiful.Service, could do with improvement, I am sure this was due to how busy they were. However, with the prices that they charge? they should offer a better and faster service. Not sure I would recommend it to my friends as it was not the experience experience I was expecting.

I booked a dinner here with some friends who were visiting England and the Cotswolds for the first time. Like many others, I booked based on the ?reviews? of the many #gifted #pr posts that had popped up on social media. We were a group of 4, we were celebrating and ordered generously. We were let?s say an ?international? looking clientele and maybe that?s why we received such a sub par service. When asked if our food was alright, my food was actually incredibly salty and inedible, it was tasted by everyone on the table who were in agreement, so I politely mentioned this when asked. The server took it away and then came back rudely and slammed the plate back on the table and said ?the chef has tasted it, it?s not overly salty- there?s nothing wrong with it here?s your plate back?. Who would taste someone else?s food, after they?ve received it and then return it and expect me to eat it? The whole table had never experienced such a thing in any establishment and I was quite frankly embarrassed.I did email the management, last year when it happened and the response was, ?we investigated the matter and found that our chef and staff indeed acted correctly?. I?m sorry but this is totally not professional and I?m surprised at the amount of glowing reviews. Perhaps if you?re not an international traveller or don?t have a large social media following then this is what you can expect. There are plenty of independent and charming pubs and restaurants in the Cotswolds that really show off the generosity and beauty of the area. This one sadly lacks professionalism or curtesy at top tier prices for the area. I felt awful that my guests had to experience such a rude interaction on what had been such a lovely and charming weekend. I understand that bad service can happen on an evening, but the total lack of interest or follow up from the management when I provided feedback was the final nail in the coffin. Not all that glitters is gold.

We came here for Sunday lunch. We sat in the garden room with our retriever. We were given a lovely table with plenty of space for the dog too. The service was 10/10 and the girl serving us both in the garden room and the girl serving our plates were really excellent and credit to them! The food was really good it was just a shame it didn?t feel like great value for money. £80 for 2 mains and sharing a pud. We would like to go out for Sunday lunch more often but the price felt really steep considering we had no alcohol. I don?t mind paying £17-£23 ish for a Sunday roast but £26 felt expensive for what we got.

My wife and I enjoyed a wonderful Sunday lunch. The service from start to finish was top form, ever present and helpful. The food, as always, up to standard. Excellent meat and a special commendation for the roast potatoes. Some good banter with the chefs on the way out, who appreciated the feedback... Being local, we will be back....

Spent last wkd celebrating a friend?s milestone birthday and the venue and staff helped make it a memorable weekend for all. A very picturesque setting combined with great food & wonderful staff all helped to ensure everyone enjoyed themselves. Particular shout out to Chip who looked after us for the evening as well as arranging breakfast the following morning for our whole group.will definitely stay again and would recommend to others. Indeed there can be no higher praise then myself and my Sister gifting our parents vouchers for them to stay there too!Rooms: Lovely well appointed rooms. They are very warm although the hot water from the showers was hit & miss but a small detail that did not detract from the overall experience.Walkability: Some lovely walks in the area with each room provided with a map of several walking options of varying lengths.Food & drinks: The steaks and Sunday lunch are the highlights on the menu but a mention should also go to the fish & chips. Breakfast included in the stay is a continental style buffet, with the cinnamon buns also needing a special shout out (delicious!). There are also cooked breakfast options available, the sausage, bacon & egg muffin being a stand out. One disappointment was the black pudding in the full English breakfast which was so dry that it was not possible to cut or eat but otherwise no faulting the food.

My partner and I came to the Double Red Duke for Sunday lunch and had the best pork belly roast we?ve ever had. The cauliflower cheese side was so delicious. The service was so prompt and friendly. We will definitely be recommending this pub!

We have been coming here since it opened and we have to say the last visit ( yesterday 16th jan) was excellent better than ever! Food was excellent! Fish and chips perfection! All the sides and steak cooked perfectly! The service ( we now know most the staff) is the best relaxed and friendly and can?t do enough to help! Waitress serving lunch and breakfast is so helpful and lovely so is all bar staff! We can?t wait to return! The rooms are absolutely beautiful and the interior throughout the property is what dreams are made of ! The only thing I will say is in recent visits the rooms might need a little TLC and retouch of paint or fixing of shutters! But that aside a wonderful stay and we can?t wait to return! Thank you for making David?s birthday amazing!Rooms: Need a little TLC They have a few touch ups/ fixes needed in recent times! Still beautiful though!Food & drinks: Perfection in every single way! Wouldnt change a thing! Amazing cocktails too!

We held our quarterly meeting there and finished off with a leisurely lunch. Couldn't fault anything. Great facilities, great food and great staff. Nothing was too much trouble. Thank you.

We stayed here in January, it was wonderfully cosy with amazing food. The room was lovely and well appointed, bed v comfy. The food and drinks were a real highlight, absolutely fantastic cooking and cocktails and a good wine list. Also dog friendly, which was lovely for us. Would definitely stay again and recommend to anyone!Food & drinks: Really superb, a definite highlight of the hotel. Seriously good cocktails and great food - everything delicious and some dishes truly memorable.

It was my husband's birthday and we decided to book at the double red duke. WE loved the place. Beautifully decorated ,very warm and cozy for a very cold and grey day. THey made our stay super special by very kindly upgrading us and lending us a room after our treatments. The staff could not have done more to make it special.

This place is a quirky gem as expected from it's name. The staff, food and drinks (wines) are all superb - and yes, you pay for that. The medium rooms are generous and would be our default. The massages are amazing and a must if you are staying over! The negatives - car parking is atrocious; the place is too family friendly, especially at peak times - New Year, when irresponsible PC parents allow young children to run around uncontrolled in what is clearly for them, new found space compared to their small cramped home. Dogs are generally well behaved and a credit to their owners, but you can get the occasional grumpy one who needs to bark rather than to respect other guests. All in all, yes I will go back - for a quieter weekend break outside of predictable holiday times.

We went to lunch at the Double Red Duke and loved everything about it. The food is glorious, every dish a heightened version of a well-known classic, cooked to perfection. Service was impeccable, and the place looks amazing, of course. We sat in the lovely conservatory, but every room has its own appeal. Next time we'll go for a seat at the chef's bar.. Highly recommend, a real stand-out in the Cotswolds.

What a find ! Simply superb in every way !Stunning building, warmly greeted on arrival, attentive staff and exceptional food. Highly recommend the parfait, could have eaten that over & over. We had the monkfish and the cod as mains which were exquisite - 5 stars to the chef. The overall atmosphere and decor made the evening very special.A real treat.

Wonderful! We came here for a roast and it was tremendous. The pickled veg and parfait were outstanding and the desserts delicious. Thank you for a very special meal - there is clearly a lot of effort that goes into this establishment and we greatly appreciated.

Restaurant is incredible, Noah is a certified pro and exceptional host. Food was absolutely fantastic, we took his advice and ordered lots of small plates to share for starts and I was not sure about the whipped lardo from reading about it but it was life changing. The rooms in the hotel are spacious, luxurious beds and my lady is especially grateful for the enormous bath tubs. Cookies in the room on check in was a real premium touch. I love it here and would definitely come back. I still have two more days here and couldn't wait to write this, that's how good it is. Mom's birthday trip couldn't be at a better place.
