This pub was recommended to us by a local dog walker. He said they welcomed dogs, and the food was good. We were probably very lucky to get a table when we did. It did get busy quickly after we arrived. Although the manager tried to accommodate walk-ins, I heard some people being turned away. The menu is fair, with perhaps some choice limitations. I felt the mushroom risotto was a bit too salty, and fyi vegetable crisps go soggy quickly if you serve them on top of steaming food. Other than that, it was a filling and tasty dish. Watching other customer's food, that all looked good too.The desserts were tasty, especially the sticky toffee pudding. The location was lovely. The service was perfectly fine, and we didn't wait too long at all. The cost was reasonable. We will definitely return. Best advice; book a table or go at quieter times to enjoy the peaceful location.

Beautifully located on the riverside with outside seating offering great daytime views. A busy Saturday. Our evening meal was exceptional and was a highlight, marred just slightly by service, which was a shame. All the food was cleverly composed with interplay of flavours, but at quite reasonable prices for this kind of quality. The head of house was genial and instantly welcoming, but had to work hard to keep eyes on staff not quite responding soon enough to a table's needs. We waited a while before he stepped in himself, noticing we'd not been invited to order a drink, and it was again a while before we ordered food, then another gap to order dessert, which we had to prompt during which multiple staff swirled around putting clean glasses and linen on unattended tables. I know I've said a lot about this, but for clarity I absolutely recommend going for all the outstanding positives.Food & drinks: Amazing food

Third stay at The Beetle and Wedge and highly recommend it. Lovely location, great rooms and food, with friendly efficient service. A special mention to the professional waiting staff, especially Jasmine who looked after us for both lunch and dinner.Rooms: great roomsFood & drinks: great food

Two of us paid just shy of £90 and left hungry. No one asked how the food was yet they present you with options to pay a tip? Macchiato had one shot of coffee but I couldn't drink it, it was so over powering. Very small dinner portions, it was surreal. Felt disappointed with my main. One toilet had a stain, which surprised me. There's also a smell of sewage, indoors. Heating was low, I was freezing. I'll stop there. SIGH.

Food was yummy. Not cheap but good value. Well worth a visit. Right on the river and a gorgeous spot but you'll probably need to have booked on a sunny summer's day.
