Founded in 1965, Pizza Express now has over 50 years of experience in the UK with their headquarters in London. At first, it started as a small pizza shop in Wardour Street, London. Peter Boizot, the founder of Pizza Express, was inspired after a trip to Italy and actually brought back a pizza oven as well as a chef. In total, they now have 400 restaurants selling Italian food in the UK with 14 of these in Ireland under the brand name 'Milano'.
After owning the company for nearly 50 years, Boizot sold up back in 2014 to a Chinese equity firm in a deal thought to be worth £900 million. Despite this, the premise of good food remains the same and they have millions of regular customers as a result.
