I bought an expensive car battery £170 it lasted six months then wouldn't operate the starter. Took it to Halfords with 5 year warranty. Unfortunately the warranty is worthless as the battery needs to read zero volts for them to replace it. If it reads zero volts they offer to charge it so it can be one volt then it isn't covered by warranty. Battery voltage should be 13.8v and mine was 1.6volts so not valid for warranty. Complete daylight robbery and they should make that clear at point of purchase.Customer services from Halfords contacted me and asked me to reach out to them so they could do better. I contacted them and chatted online to a colleague. He said that it would be passed on to an investigation team and they would reply within four hours. Well they didn't reply in four hours but i did get a reply from the store manager who served me. He was regurgitating the same inane logic of how a battery is good if it's over a Volt and it hasn't failed, it must be my fault that it's not working.A reasonable expectation of a battery is that it should turn over the engine and hold a charge for a reasonable time. Unfortunately the warranty does not cover that basic expectation. Don't buy a battery from Halfords would be my advice based on my experience.

The auto centre advised that some equipment was not working well and they may need to keep the car for an extra day. This ended up happening, at least we were prepared for it, and sometimes things happen. The people were friendly and polite. However they were more interested in upselling things than fixing our car. We advised that the brakes were squeaking on the vehicle when we handed it over. The car passed its MOT but had lots of advisories etc some saying 'dangerous'. After having the vehicle for two days they had fixed nothing. They suggested that we book it back in to have 4 new tyres fitted, trying to upsell instead of offering to fix the brakes, they needed to be fixed only one tyre needed changing. I booked in to get the work done with another company due to this and won't be returning here for autocare.

People are good and friendly.Hard trying to get work done there as they seem really busy and if they find a part needing replacement they wait until it?s too late in the day to order it and so the jobs flows over to the next day.

Absolutely awful online customer service saying items were in stock at the store when they weren't. Drove to the store to find out they definitely were not in stock but they were good to order the items for me after explaining this is a common problem with the online service.

Ok for small things like changing a bulb or wipers. For bigger jobs go somewhere else! They even cannot disengage a handbrake (really wished i was exaggerating....)

Always has what you need. Even motor cycle equipment which was new to me. Received a £5 discount on a £35 purchase for joining the club. Took 2 mins.

Returned a couple of weeks after new front brake pads fitted. A very knowledgeable mechanic there sorted out the problem & explained everything to me as to why the problem occurred. Good service.

Hint: if you book an alignment for let?s say 1PM go there for 3PM as they wait 2 hours before putting your car on the ramp

I booked appointment on 22/03/2023 at 8.30am to check my car what's the problem and they promised time 1 hour to find the problem. I didn't get any phone call from until 5pm so I called them after 5pm and they said very busy and they promise will fix asap. Next day I phoned them same story they are very busy and they told me take the car rebook again. I thought Halfords good company and do better service. I will never come back what a wast of time.Service: Brake service & repair

Went to pick up my online order and then added some screenwash as I had stupidly forgotten I needed .I was then overcharged and had to return, she gave me my money back but was there was no apology for mistake just handed back money and walked off and it was still wrong but had had enough very poor customer service
