Great meal and cigar last weekend! We always like to swing by when are having a whisky weekend as it?s central to many of our favorite distilleries. Thanks to the gentleman who professionally helped us with the cigars I believe it was Simon or Sam (apologies) we will be back soon!

Stopped for lunch. What a great decision. The staff was welcoming and friendly. Quite an extensive Scotch Whiskey selection. Luckily we ordered the lunch special, Salmon with mushroom and rice pilaf. The salmon was the best I have ever tasted. The skin was crispy and the meat was moist and cooked to perfection.I absolutely recommend!

Particular shout out to Zak and Mhairi, you really made a difference to our visit. ??????Food & drinks: Fabulous cocktails and wine list!

This is a "the" place to stay if you are looking for a central Speyside location to base yourself from. Close to all of the top Speyside names you'd know, and a few fantastic ones you probably don't!Freddie and the team at the Mash Tun are fantastic. You'll not meet a more friendly, knowledgeable team anywhere. The rooms are fantastic and the food is sublime - you must try the smoked salmon and scrambled eggs for breakfast - The locally caught and smoked salmon is incredible. If you have time, and you have a keen interest in Whisky make sure you speak to Karen - a wonderful local lady with years of industry experience and knowledge. Karen introduce us to a couple of new distilleries, and wow! Karen also does whisky tastings herself, unfortunately we didn't have time to indulge but we will when we go back! For the cigar smokers there is a fine selection of Cubans and New world lines (courtesy of the team at CGars.co.uk) in the walk in humidor - and a lovely heated, comfortable Cigar hut for you to partake in. Just tell the staff you are heading out there and they'll look after you.And of course, the whisky...OMG - the collection is huge and there are a few local, very rare drams to partake in! also, if you are a Glenfarclas fan, they have every family edition from 1952!A great place, fantastic team, beautiful rooms and outstanding food - a little piece of paradise in the heart of Speyside.Rooms: Very comfortable rooms, newly decorated. plenty of space to spread out! beds are great.Food & drinks: The revised menu is amazing! plenty of local produce in the menu. the smoked salmon for breaky is incredible!

A lovely pub which serves great food. We visit ya d between Christmas and new year. I?d recommend you book to ensure you get a table. The food was a step above good pub food. They do a small children menu but is more than adequate. Portion sizes are good. The staff are friendly and attentive. As you would imagine the whisky options are vast. Would highly recommend.

This pub used to be a welcoming village pub, where locals and tourists would sit side by side and enjoy a beer or a bite to eat. The past two visits have been deeply unpleasant and have confirmed that I will never be returning. The first time I came back the music outside was loud and outdated, the river Spey and the nature around Aberlour are a draw, no one wants to listen to loud Paulo Nutini. Last night I popped in for a drink, just like the adverts on Facebook said to do, and we were told that the bar was fully booked and we couldn't get a beer, despite most tables being empty and space to stand at the bar. A pub where you can't get a beer? I've been to over 40 countries, and even in the deepest backwater from the Baltic to the Caucuses I have never set foot in a bar that you could not get a drink in. I also don't believe that every single table was an imminent arrival. Very poor and unapologetic service, with a very young staff, most likely because the former staff and locals know to avoid the place now. If you are a visitor to Aberlour and want to get a drink and something to eat around locals, and not sit in a sterile room catering solely to visitors, then don't come here. Go anywhere else. If you're a local, I suspect you already know this. Be a restaurant if you're a restaurant, but stop pretending to be a pub if that's the case. Despite working in The Mash Tun once upon a time, and spending a lot of money there over the years, until the current management are gone I will not spend another penny in such an unpleasant place.

One of the best food that I have had anywhere. Limited menu. And they specialize in everything that they provide. ABSOLUTELY will recommend their food.

We visited the restaurant at Mash Tun for the second time in four months. The restaurant/ bar is lovingly restored and the atmosphere is pleasant, the views over the river Spey fantastic. The bar itself is really well stocked. We had had a great meal there back in July, just on a wander about old tourist haunts from when we were kids with only enough cash for a baked tattie, and found the place on a walk down to look at the Spey.Whilst perusing the menu, you are served with a jug of tap water and glasses. A nice touch, but indicative of the service offered throughout.Today, he had a half portion of the charcuterie from the main menu. Gorgeous home-made crostini, fresh and tasty Mediterranean meats, Crowdie, Scottish cheddar and chutneys. All memorable and delectable. I chose the special of pan seared scallops on a bed of seared tomatoes- three types of baby/plum- with onion, capers in a rather splendid dressing. Dreamy.Main course, we both went off menu.He had half roast chicken with lovely crispy skin, and sprouting broccoli, in a gorgeous mushroomy sauce and very moreish home-made chips- he couldn't finish it, so we were given doggy boxes.I had seafood gnocchi. Loads of tiger prawns, chunks of salmon and crab in a wonderful creamy sauce with peas and nice light gnocchi. MMMM....You begin to run out of superlatives in this place! We finished with mixed berry crumble and ice cream. As you can guess faultless, followed by filter coffee.I had a glass of house red during the meal which was good and robust, and, the other reason for being there, I ended with a Stalla Dhu Speyside single malt whisky, dreamy, mellow.... memorable. An unforgettable meal, in nice surroundings, with good service and very friendly staff.
