I have cancelled my stay in the smugglers hostel on time to get a free cancellation but it was impossible to reach them or Orbitz. Now I have received a few messages and they said I have to ask Expedia to get my refund but that's also impossible so I would say, be careful. I am trying to get my refund but I will have to contact customers protection I think. This feels like a scam!

A brilliant, very well equipped and clean hostel. The staff were very helpful in accommodating our needs. For a small hostel, the facilities are excellent and the rooms are spacious. Highly recommended, we will come again.

I?ve stayed here a number of times over recent years and it?s never disappointed. The location is perfectly positioned for a multitude of activities including munroing, whiskey trails, mountain biking and skiing. The host is friendly and very accommodating, when I was going to be late arriving without a specific eta they went out of their way to ensure my stay was as problem free as possible. The rooms are clean and tidy with enough charging points and lockers for all.The kitchen and dining room are enormous with excellent facilities. The drying room/shed is fitted with numerous heaters and a dehumidifier which is very effective and much better than most.Excellent stay thank you for being great hosts and so flexible.5*Rooms: Good size and comfortable beds. The rooms had lockers and plenty of charging points.

Camping available in the walled garden, £7.50 pppn. Much appreciated after a long day in the saddle. There was a group booking for the whole hostel, but they were very happy for us to use the facilities in the morning.Very well equipped. Kitchen was great, and we made good use of the drying room! Showers were a bit temperamental, but not a major issue for usThanks again.

I stayed for one night and would use again. All info, door codes etc were sent by email as I arrived after 5pm. (One code was in a separate email which I nearly missed.) The dormitory was small and basic but the kitchen was excellent with good equipment and space. Dining and sitting areas were nice too and the showers were good.

Oli very kindly allowed us to stay as part of our Round Britain Climate Challenge and the Smugglers Hostel was the perfect base for us to catch up with desk-based work, editing and get some much-needed rest in their super comfy beds! There is also a lovely short walk nearby called the Tomintoul Circular route - perfect for taking a midday break and refresh! Thanks for having us Oli we will all be sure to pop back in when we are next in the area!

For a one stop or a base for walking and cycling, then this is the place to be. Also, whisky galore :-) A brand new luxury kitchen - what a pleasure. Due to Covid we got the entire place to ourselves. The drying room saved our trip!!

We went as a group of 24 family members and stayed for 5 nights. The staff were very friendly and the location was just right for nearby places to visit. Very nice, clean and tidy hostel with a big size kitchen and dining area.

Such an amazing hostel, very friendly and the perfect base for my mountain biking adventures. They have bike storage and a bike wash station. The host Kenny is supremely entertaining and the rooms are clean and comfortable. The town is small but with some very interesting shops, walks, pubs and people.

Ideal location for exploring the Glenlivet and Cairngorms area. Excellent hosts, peaceful sorroundings and a beautiful village where you can get anything you need. Entry by code so you are free to come and go at any time. My favourite hostel in scotland!

Great hostel with everything you need. Very clean. Kenny was super friendly and helpful with transit around the area. If youâ??re having trouble getting in/out of Tomintoul, reach out to the hostel and they can work it out for you.

We booked the family room for our family of 5 + dog. It was clean and tidy with bedding provided. The kitchen was very well provisioned with utensils. The only thing worth remembering is to take your towels.
