The world food section at the back of the store provides great value on some brilliant products. Fruit and veg tends to be quite limited though and prices on promotions don?t always work out in practice - keep your eyes peeled. Staff have done nothing to help me out other than remove the promotion stickers AFTER I?ve raised it, rather than honouring the price given.

I am writing to express my deep dissatisfaction and concern regarding an incident that occurred at the ASDA Leith Superstore on the evening of December 29, 2023. My complaint pertains to the unprofessional behavior exhibited by staff members, particularly Emma, during my use of the Scan and Go service. While undergoing a routine quality check, conducted by staff member Dionne, I encountered a distressing situation. Dionne, who was on a phone call at the time, performed the quality scan haphazardly, randomly scanning items without removing them from the bag. This resulted in the accidental double scanning of one item, prompting Dionne to request a complete rescan of my purchases at the checkout. I was disappointed to find myself in a similar situation for the second time due to staff errors during the quality check. In an attempt to explain the implications of scanning the same item twice, particularly how it could lead to a failure in the quality check, I was met with resistance from Dionne. Despite my efforts to clarify the situation and seek resolution, she denied any wrongdoing, offered no apology, and walked away, leaving me confused.Subsequently, Emma approached me in an agitated manner, instructing me to rescan everything. Despite my attempts to explain the situation calmly, Emma refused to listen, falsely accused me of shouting at her, and took the drastic step of involving security to escort me out of the store. This unexpected and unwarranted behavior left me shocked and deeply disturbed.Emma requested the security staff to throw me out of the store, and I explained with my concerns, however the response was also disheartening. The security staff suggested that if I was unhappy, I should refrain from visiting the store in the future. This recommendation was particularly disconcerting considering our longstanding residency in proximity to the store and a decade-long history of being loyal customers, as well as being ASDA Credit Card holder. My wife and I requested the opportunity to speak with the store manager regarding the perceived unfair treatment, but the response was that ?the manager is busy and has no time?. This lack of accessibility and responsiveness added to our disappointment. It is crucial to note that upon rescanning all items, the total amount of £98.02 matched the amount on the Scan and Go device. Despite this, when attempting to demonstrate that no theft had occurred, Emma accused me of harassment and summoned security once again. While I understand that mistakes can happen, the unacceptable attitude displayed by the staff, coupled with the unfounded accusations, is intolerable. I strongly urge ASDA to invest in comprehensive training for its staff, emphasizing professionalism and diligence during Quality Scan procedures. It is essential that staff pay careful attention during quality checks, ensuring each scanned item is removed from the bag to prevent the rescanning of items multiple times.I believe that implementing these measures will significantly reduce inappropriate operations by staff and contribute to a more positive shopping experience for customers. I trust that ASDA takes this complaint seriously and initiates appropriate actions to address these concerns.Thank you for your attention to this matter, and I anticipate a prompt and satisfactory resolution.

Got accused of stealing 2 quid's worth of crisps after shopping here for well over 10 years!Guard clearly saw me paying for my items too. Don't appreciate being made a fool of over a couple bag of crisps!

The store in Newhaven obviously has a lot of thefts but why do they assume that everyone is out to steal!!! I used scan and go and was selected for a check. Needless to say I arrived at the correct total but because I scanned one of my £1 rolls of wrapping paper incorrectly everything had to be re-scanned and ny blood pressure was soaring!!! ASDA some of us are honest and where is human initiative these days....Merry Christmas!!!

Not a good Asda. 8pm on a Friday and no actual checkouts open. Told not enough staff. Not good enough esp if doing a larger shop. When you do go trolly self check out there is a staff member holding all the bags. So you need to wait to ask for one. Apparently people steal them. Staff member claimed it's Asda policy. Well it isn't at my local one. I DO NOT CARE IF THEY ARE STOLEN!!. Do not inconvenient ALL customers because of a few thieves. Call the police or get your rather lazy looking security guards sitting at the exit to do their jobs. Thankfully I don't live here and won't have to visit this Asda again. 2 Stars because it was well stocked and clean. However when customer service is so bad it puts you off.

Shame that they would rather police the empty trolley self scan than let a couple folk with baskets use it. What a silly way to waste staff and space while making customers queue unnecessarily.

Woman at self service tried to deter me from buying a game because it would take too long to locate it in the back. Then said it was out of stock after waiting around for 10 minute. Why have the case on the shelf if out of stock?

I've had no issues with my visits to Asda in Leith, Edinburgh. It's a superstore that sells a range of items and I like that I can scan my items through the Scan and Go app. It's easy for me to be able to do that instead of having to use a device. I do feel that this place doesn't have the staff it used to and it's difficult to find the staff when needed.

Having to wait in line, in a long queue for the large automated tills while more than half of the smaller ones are empty is stupid and a waste of time. There is plenty of space and it was nowhere around rush hours. And, if anyone is wondering all the items fitted nicely on the till's tray, so it wasn't a case of too many products, was using a trolley mainly because it's easier to carry bottles of coke around, while looking for stuff. This also seems to be the only ASDA I've been to, that has this policy all the time. (outside peak hours, where it would be understandable)

Waiting to get a bag, as they cannot just place then next to the till as any other shop. Also, I wasn't sold energy drink despite being 35 and showing pictures of my Passport, driving licence.Never more Asda, going to Tesco now

This is a great supermarket for small shops and big ones is has a variety of food options and also has a halal section and the staff are really kind.

They're forever moving things around. Recently they moved almost every item to a completely different part of the shop. The staff just shrug when you ask where things are. They've now stopped giving out bags at the self serve checkout making you stand around waiting for a member of staff who has to 'scan it for you' which kind of defeats the point of SELF serve. They never have any baskets available so you need to wander into the shop and collect yourself from the checkout. It's like they're actively trying to make the shopping experience less convenient.Plus they've stopped selling Quinoa!

I have been to many asda stores and find them familiar in layout but this one in Leith frustrates me as items are not were they normally are in other asda stores .
