“Many of the whisky shops are fairly generic, yes they'll have a good selection but that's about it. This place is however very different. Whilst they do have some of the whisky you'll see elsewhere they've also got a wide selection of rarities, obscure, oddities even that you'll struggle to find elsewhere. I was looking for a specific year (the year my daughter was born) and they had several to choose from including a Dailuaine - which I'm very partial to. I was very impressed. The service was quick, professional, helpful and what's more, it wasn't condescending. This was a busy Saturday afternoon visit to put that into perspective.”

“Stopped into the Edinburgh shop with absolutely no knowledge of whiskey, but wanted the chance to at least experience a taste. Spoke with a young man in the shop (very sorry now I did not get his name) and explained my ignorance. Based on my questions and my beer preferences he made three recommendations. My friends and I held an informal tasting and found his selections were actually much better than expensive well known whiskies. Will be returning on my next trip to Edinburgh. Highly recommend.”

When a small COVID related hiccup appeared with shipping, one of the employees jumped in their van and made a special trip to be sure we had what we needed to celebrate. “There are two Scotmid stores in the area (this one and another is in the lower side of the Marchmont Cr.) Both are small, but generally do the job just fine – sell almost any food including quick snacks. Workers are polite and Scotmid sells the best steak pies, try them.Unlike other Scotmid stores, this one may be short on anything, including bakery.”

“A very comfortable B&B very close to the City center. The room was great, as was the breakfast. The owners were always around with a smile and helpful advice in what to see and how to get there. It makes an excellent base to get to and from the major attractions. It also has a great selection of restaurants nearby, and a couple of Supermarkets as well. As it's Edinburgh there is a nice bit of history attached to the place (but you'll have to ask the owners about that). All in all, we spent 3 fabulous days here and will defiantly book again without hesitation. Thank you Ladies, you made a fantastic visit, amazing.”

“Scotmid prices are getting a little out of hand. Definitely one of the most expensive food shop/ grocery stores in leith.This branch is kept clean and tidy. Can get a bit crowded as the aisles are on the thin side.I always get a "pop in for milk on the way home" vibe rather than a "place for the regular food shop" vibe.”
